I think Tanby should win the Geelong Cup, but too short. I've been looking at bit closer at I'm Jake, think there's a lot to like about him, some pretty decent form lines.

Anyone give Kings Rose a chance for the Cox?

At ~$17/4.50 and having drawn well behind the speed, a winner over the trip and at the Valley I think she's an okay each way chance.

Yeah its an each way chance for sure. Its an extremely open race so wouldnt be surprised if we get a rough result

It's really a "below average" Cox Plate field, well without the assistance of hindsight it seems that way.

I'm really hoping one of Helmet or Jimmy win the race, because at least then the hype around one of these horses will have been granted, and they will probably go on and be rated as top class WFA horses.

Most years the Cox Plate winner is the best horse of the year, yet with Sepoy, BC and AJ out there, unless something remarkable happens I can't see it being so this season.

I've loved the Cox Plate, it's been my favourite race each year, I'm just praying for a star to be born on Saturday.

I wouldnt call it a weak Cox Plate, its a pretty decent field in my opinion without a super star. Caulfield Cup winner, Two Vic Derby winners, melbourne cup winner, Epsom winner, Caulfield Guineas winner, NZ star, Shamrocker won the AJC derby and oaks too didnt it? Thats just off the top of my head but if you went through the field it is pretty high quality

The field just about always has those winners in it, but I guess I'm asking where's the "star".

In recent years we have had So You Think, Makybe Diva, Northerly, Sunline and Might and Power.

I'm just wondering if there's a super star in this lot.

If those sort of horses were around every year they wouldn't be superstars.

They would just be a stock standard top liner.

Im really hoping Helmet gives them a hiding. He can be the next big WFA horse. We have BC and Sepoy but they are sprinters. I reckon the public would love Helmet too.

This is my hope also. Cox Plate winner deserves to be a champ and if he continues his improvement (providing he continues racing), he'll be a star.

I think it's hilarious all the money coming for the horse purely on the back of a track gallop beating Jimmy Choux comfortably.

So what!?

Nothing against RI but foolish to bet on the basis of trackwork!

Over 1200 which is all the trackwork was, RI ran a 2nd 1st up so he's very talented over shorter distances too. I'm not writing him off but wait til they feel the pinch 400 out over 2040, we will see the real Jimmy knuckle down to the task.

Put my biggest bet of the carnival so far on for the Cox Plate

$25 each way on Jimmy Choux at $5 and $1.91 @ Betfair

He was pretty impressive winning the Vase at this track and distance last year, not sure why you think he'll puncture.

I would call losing a dollar break even...jesus christ.
