Can't entirely agree with that - she definitely doesn't look to kick on kick clear when she gets to the front. When you run second THAT many times in a row its highly unlikely you've found one with better ability on the day EVERY time.

She's got out bobbed twice and another she came from off them and burst through into 2nd late. She's no Northerly but she doesn't give up, I just don't think she is good enough to gap them

Interesting during ch7 coverage talking to connections of Bande. It's a front runner now as good as it apparently seems can anyone recall a melb cup being won by the horse leading barrier-winning post??
Might and Power.

He's no Might and Power but he won't need to be to win this years Caulfield Cup. MC different kettle of fish.

First Seal wont be coming to melb, spring champion or paddock.

LV starts clear CC fave now, crazy short if it happens to be wet.

Agree re LV price - can't back it at that price in a Caulfield Cup when its gone around $8 in the Turnbull (and in the end only just bobbed out Lidari and Brambles - think they'd be 30/1 shots in a normal strength CC).

Think this is the weakest crop of older horses for some time (both from Oz and Europe) and really I think Bande should start hot favourite. Hopefully LV's win today means we get a price on the day. Plenty of CC's have been won from up on the pace too in recent years.

Mate, when I'm going through the OOE's all I'm doing is going "No... no... no...", surely there is some Euro with upside??

In a word - No - I don't think there is one this year.

I hear you, but I simply can't have any of the locals, or even local trained as it stands right now. When you look at the Euro's that go well here, they're not really top shelf, Mt Athos, Red Cadeaux etc... I know the Prix Kergolay was a joke this year, but I just like Protectionist a bit, over say Murtagh's pair or the ATB horses.

Still waiting for the last minute hail mary from Lloyd to show up, seeing as the stable is going so well :drunk:

Sean Moon should be sent back home, same manners as last prep, still a ****ing moron during the run.

Fawkner or bust for Lloyd, you're right, Clutchy

I was trying to figure out what Lloyd was thinking around the 600m mark today, probably something like "How much did I ****ing blow on this wet tracker??"

'Disperse' him to Ciaron Maher or someone down at the 'Bool and send him to Sydney next Autumn IMO. That, or send him back home... #alandi

Lloyd believes Sea Moon is his best Melbourne Cup chance, which makes me very worried about backing Fawkner for it. I have a feeling despite Lloyd always having his eyes on the Cup that he might just be targeting Fawkner on winning an elusive Cox Plate for him this year. You can see that's what he wants sitting on the mantle now

If Fawkner wins or runs well in the Cox Plate, you can bet your life he'll go around in the Cup, especially how soft it's come up this year.

I'd like to see a market on Sea Moon actually making the field without breaking down.

I'm sure he will go there too but I think he is being trained mainly for the Cox Plate which is a bit worrying. Why else would you rate Sea Moon over him for the Cup?

I'm certain he's being trained for the Cox Plate as well, but the horse is pretty versatile, came off a supposed Epsom campaign onto a CC win, then ran well in the Cup with no luck. Top class galloper :thumbsu:

Word is Lloyd has been racing his against each other at home, I naturally assume Sea Moon has been showing him something to warrant those comments, as befits the class of the horse - but Flemington on a Good 3 is a different story. Nothing about his form even when he was Stoute seemed to say 2 mile handicaps anyway, I just can't see it happening for him.
