The Cleaner is a fighter, very similar to another TAS horse from a few years back in Conquering who also loved the Valley. He is one of the better chances for sure

I still can't believe Lankan Rupee is the same horse that couldn't win an average race on a Friday night at the Vally.. Is now the top rated sprinter. Still shocked

Took it one out in the quaddie that night, one of those stinking 955m races I think. Took me a while to back it again. On board now though!!

See i was the opposite...first time i backed it last spring it won so have been very keen on it since then. Its no Black Caviar but should still gap these if half fit

The Cleaner/Mourinho quin in the Dato must be close to the weakest in terms of class of horse in the race's living memory. Happy to hear other nominations.
Probably.

They were at least in their right race though, as a tough front runner and track specialist respectively. What about the walkers that finished behind? Mull of Killough and Side Glance would've probably gone close tbh.

I know you'd never get a Kingman or Toronado to come, but we should be buying/inviting even B grade milers to come. Would clean up big time and the way our races are run, you could probably stretch them out between 1400-2400m??

Unlike our stayers I think this is just a cyclical drop in our 1600m stocks - generally we are ok at producing pretty good horses around a mile. Obviously not Kingman quality but plenty that could compete with the lessor grade British milers.

Does anyone know of any decent open bar/beverage packages available to the general public for the Guineas/Cup Days at Caulfield?
A coupe years ago I found a great one through Fox FM or something it cost me about $200 and I had Beer, Wine, Softy and a racebook from 12-5:30 which was great. Looking for something like that.

Gregers beat it home off a tougher run last start. Those odds are poison imo especially for a horse 2nd up
I see it differently, with even luck CJ probably wins, notice Ollie did get a suspension for that ride. I could see Gregers running a flat one here, got it easy first up, did well to win under pressure 2nd up, but that may have taken a bit out of him. CJ is the class horse, who's first run was super, and will certainly strip fitter 2nd up.

The better than average winter horses have often won the early spring WFA races up to 1600m. Will say that The Cleaner is probably near the bottom of this group.

Reports coming through that the Australian Bloodstock guys have bought 50% of Protectionist. Given that it's coming in the first shipment, I'd say it's very likely they'd want to run in the Caulfield Cup. $50 seems overs.
