I knew those stooges would get a run.

Sporn and Teague deserve to play though. They'll be out to prove the critics wrong.

What's wrong with Russell?

Is he injured or just hasn't performed enough? Be a shock if it's the latter considering the training reports on him.

We have all been hanging out to see the newbies.Very dissapointing to not see Bower,Edwards and even Russell in the line up. Looks like were going for back to back.I hope we learnt from last years experience (exposing game plans etc, ) and save a little something for round 1.

Perhaps Russell is that something. :)

If we don't play the young players somethings wrong.

I know Carlton want to win the comp - because it helps with membership, confidence etc.

But how good would it be to win a few games with Russel and even someone like Livingston (on last chance no doubt) in the side for the whole competition.

So do I. Surely Prendergast won't play.
He's in the leadership group so I'd be surprised if he didn't play.

Just shows how much we're lacking leadership when a guy who by all rights shouldn't play a game this season is in the leadership group, and another guy who wanted to leave at the end of last season but got no interest is made vice captain while last years vice captain gave the club the finger and buggered off to Essendon.

Can't believe Prendergast, Sporn, Deluca, Davies and Wiggins are in ahead of Russell and Bryan.

Would have loved to see one of Bower or Edwards play and it's ridiculous that Livingston isn't playing. I'm not a huge fan but think that he needs to play every early game to see if he can hold down FB or a back pocket before the real season starts. Looks like Thornton will play at FB which is not a good move, maybe Hartlett will be given first crack?

Nice to see Blackwell in there, just hope Pagan gives him a decent run now ahead of hacks like Wiggins and Prendergast.

They'd be on their last chance. If they don't show anything then Russell will get his chance. Bryan depends on team balance- probably can't play in same team as DeLuca & McLaren. If they don't perform will get his chance.

Edwards probably isn't right because of a finger injury. If he is ready to go then he probably has not had a chance to earn his spot yet. I would not be adding Edwards' name to the conspirisy theory just yet.

I'm sure over the course of the pre-season, be it NAB cup matches or practice games in the bush, the coaches want to have a look at pretty much everyone fit on our list, including those who've missed out this week.

Those who miss out will get their chance - our round 1 lineup is a long way from finalised yet.
