Good to see Flint and Russell and Blackwell in the team.

Are these players going to be our first 22 this year? in the other article mentioned it was our 'full dress rehearsel'.

how long are we going to perservere with david teague for. this blokke is a dead set shocker.
He won our best & fairest 2 years ago. Surely he still has that talent locked away somewhere. I hope we persevere with him. Give him a chance to regain his confidence.

That's a bit harsh Kooley IMO. Last year he was really fighting out of his weight division. Hopefully with the inclusion of Saddington and Lance playing the majority of the season down back, he can play on the smaller types of the game.

this might be so but he has shown nothing in the pre-season thus far to suggest that he has overcome any of the inadequacies that resulted in him having a dreadful season last year. he is far too slow to pick up a small quick forward and he struggles on the bigger forwards. there is no doubt he will paly games this season but i doubt very much if he will be at carlton beyond 2006. for the sake of carlton i hope i'm wrong.

Pagan did mention this was the going to be the best team. He has included a lot of younguns, rookies etc. Way to go Pagan, nice one. Has been selling people a dummy for the pre-season. I think he means business and we are going to see something a bit diffrentl come round one.

Heres hoping anyway.

You know what? I have a feeling your right. Something deep deep deep inside is telling me so also.

i wouldn't play him. simple as that. i would play bannister instead.
Oh come on!!

Teague has a role to play, and although he didn't have a great year last year, his 2004 speaks for itself. As I have said, you don't lose your ability, but you can lose confidence. I would expect Teague to have a much better year this year.

I see it like this.

Half back flank on the right opponent : yes
Midfield : stop with the jokes please
Forward : see midfield

Playing him in any other position that on the 3rd or 4th tall forward is not going to work. He cant kick very well and is slow for his size. He plays well and someone of similar size who is not that quick. But he can adjust to that if he is not drragged back to full back. He will give us an edge with his reading of the play, his very good spoiling and his desire to help out other defenders.
In short he will get goals kicked on him on the half back line but also save goals and provide a steady defensive influence down there.

He is not the future in my opinion but I am happy for him to get games as long as it is on the half back line. Edwards, Flint are not ready. Russell is just about and he can take the really quick med/small forward. Teague can take the mid sized (185 to 190) forward. AW can move out to the wing.

Trying to turn Teague into a "defensive forward" or one of the rotations in the midfield is just going to end up ruining his fragile confidence. Let him succeed or fail where he plays his best football.
