A little off topic, and I don't usually visit Saintsational, but Grant Thomas is posting there at the moment, confirmed by his twitter account. Regardless of whether or not you like the site, it's a pretty good opportunity to ask someone who was involved with the club some questions.

If only they had it open so anyone can view they'd find abundance of people viewing that site!! Ridiculous viewing is limited to registered people only!

Yeah and it's pretty annoying having to keep signing in every time you visit as well, won't let me save my password :/

I had to go and look up my password as I used to be signed in automatically there when I was using Firefox, but when using Safari I had to sign in every time, which was a pain. I made my first post there in about 8 months today. I'd gotten sick of all the shit you had to put up with on there, so I quit cold turkey early in the season, but the chance to chat with GT is a bit too good of an opportunity to refuse, IMO.

I registered at Saintsational a few months ago and still haven't gotten my account activated.

Don't think there's any doubt he has a massive ego but either way being able to get the opinion of an ex-AFL coach is invaluable, particularly when we all know how honest he is.

very ego driven is grant thomas. Why get onto SS? if he wants to give his opinions, join the forums with a psuedonym

Wasn't there at the time, but he has been on there before.

I like that he finds time to talk to the supporters - clarifies a few issues and gives his take on things
I wish he came here instead, of course.

Some who have been on there for years reckon he was previously doing it while he was coaching us! He's certainly one of a kind and doesn't just follow the herd! It's funny seeing all the ass kissing that's going on on that thread though. :D

I wish I could find thread when he lasted bagged Milney on FC and bump it, that would be interesting ;)

I can't stand the contradiction of some people & also the fact that you will never get proper answers on there. Everything will be "I did no wrong....everyone else is to blame..."

I just asked one I've always wanted to ask...

Let's see.

I think one of his biggest flaws was what seemed to be a contempt for 'training services'

The club had "askthomo" when he was coach.

I still remember when I said he should bitch about the umpiring like other coaches (he'd previously said he didn't like appealing for better treatment).

But he took it to another level - the result being him copping a massive fine and the Saints getting "whispers in the sky".

"Milney was always, and still is, the first to come to a party when things are going fantastic."

"He'll be there with bells on and he'll have the best time, but when the party turns ugly sometimes you've got to go looking for him.

Thomas's comments came a day after Saints coach Ross Lyon declared Milne, the club's fifth-highest goalscorer with 403, had proven himself under pressure and done enough to silence critics.

"As a person you can't do anything else but love him. I still love the guy, but I can't pee down everyone's back and not tell the truth, and protect him, because that doesn't do him any good,"

"(But) he definitely would have been gone, for sure. I don't know how much support I would have got, but I would have traded him. We would have got a good trade for him and Milney would still be playing at another club and doing exceptionally well, now and again."

"I saw him kick 11 in Round 22 (2005) and I still walked into selection the next week and gobsmacked my assistant coaches by saying I wasn't picking him the next week because we were playing our first final interstate."

"I got out-voted and he came, but I think I was proved right because he didn't do much that game."

"There's no doubt Milney has improved some aspects of his game, but I haven't been there for four years."

It's worth noting that there is no animosity towards Lyon, either. Thomas expressly came out and said that he had actually wanted Ross as an assistant at one point.

Just reiterates that each of our last three coaches have been very good for the club, each suited to a particular phase the club was going through.

Any coach jumping on a forum is always going to be an ass-kissing exercise... but the insights are a little less than profound for mine.

Don't think so, hayes

You really notice how much better the set up on here is now, compared to there.

-No "like" button there, so if you want to let someone know that you agree with, or like what they've said, without wanting to say too much, you have to quote them, which takes a lot longer.
-No alerts, to tell you when someone has quoted you, or responded to a thread you like.
-When you click on a page you have to scroll down it to the post you last read yourself, whereas on here it does it for you, if you click in the right place.
-No ability to quote multiple posts from the same page easily. If you want to do that you have to manually copy and paste each one which takes a heap longer.
-Search function is no-where near as good (this one is brilliant now!) So much easier to navigate around here and find what you want and of course it's brighter and easier to read here.

And of course there is a certain someone on there that is not on here! That Matrix is pretty funny with his graphics, though.

If only there was as much traffic on here.
