Of courseI am assuming that’s the same issue why Marshall isn’t in?

Who’s suggesting this…Arie’s an offensive weapon that needs to be released, not played as a key defender!Yep I can’t see Ross replacing Dougal with Arie under any circumstances tbh

I see Hastie in there somewhere, very composed with the ball, and Byrnes as well- he had a good late part of the season last year and should be better again this season. Interestingly my Geelong clan at the cattery mention Hastie as one their club would have liked on the list over the other young Saints when we talk about lists. Not sure about Ari yet, but if he gets senior games, the rest is up to him.
Hastie and Trav play different positionsI can't see how Hastie fits in unless we have injuries. I think Travalgia would be ahead of him and he's probably on the cusp at the moment.
Both are half back flankers.Hastie and Trav play different positions
Trav has spent most of the preseason training wing and with the midfield group. Both are half back flankers.
We may see Travalgia as a midfielder in the future, but hes not going to come in and play midfield at senior level in his first year.
I think if either get a game it's going to be a similar role across half back and up on a wing.
Travaglia was a half back flanker in his draft yearBoth are half back flankers.

We see young players train with the midfield all the time and not actually play there. As I said we obviously see him there long term but how many players come in year one and play as a midfielder? It's a rarity and even less likely considering he wasn't even a genuine mid as a junior.Travaglia was a half back flanker in his draft year
He has trained wing full time ever since arriving at St Kilda. Hastie has trained half back full time
It's the same as saying Nas and Hill play the same position
They can both be fighting for one of the last spots in the 22 and still play/train different positions. We see young players train with the midfield all the time and not actually play there. As for half back v wing, its a fairly similar role these days, in fact Hastie spent time on the wing playing senior footy last year.
Wherever they line up they will likely be behind Sinclair and NWM off half back and Hill, Wood and Wilson on the wing so they are likely just going to be picked to plug holes on the flanks and wings.
They are probably both vying for one of the last spots on the bench at the moment. I definitely wouldn't be focusing too much on which group they train with.
100%They can both be fighting for one of the last spots in the 22 and still play/train different positions.
Throw Arie, Stocker, Hall, Byrnes all in that group thenThey can both be fighting for one of the last spots in the 22 and still play/train different positions.
Think Hastie and Travaglia definitely can fit in the same side but neither are best 22 atm going off training imoWe see young players train with the midfield all the time and not actually play there.
