GWS

Pick 1 - Matthew Scharenberg.
191cms
88kgs

Probably the most talented player in the draft as well as the most flexible. Most of the mids on the GWS list have very defined inside or outside games so a super talented utility like 'Berg is really appealing. He might only be a half back flanker in his early years but he could be as good in that role as Goddard or Hodge and that is what the Giants need right now.

Pick 2 - Tom Boyd
200cms
103kgs

Thought about this alot as Kelly really does appeal but Boyd has to go top 2 here. With Tomlinson, Cameron and Patton on the list it's obvious one will need to be moved on. I'd expect Patton to get a few games in 2014 to show what he can do before being put on the table for clubs like St Kilda, Carlton, Footscray, Essendon and Geelong to fight over.

Boyd will develop into that deeper forward to allow Cameron the space from 30-60m to lose his opponent. Tomlinson will continue to lead up the wings as a get out option. It's going to be tricky getting the balance right as they all go through the peaks and troughs of their development but in 3-4 years Boyd and Cameron will be an almost unstoppable duo.

GWS have been into these two for a long time now and I don't expect it to change, however, that half chance they take Kelly with Scharenburg instead of Boyd has all of us counting down the days to draft night. Im personally looking forward to it more than my birthday and Christmas this year.

stkildathunda you're up.

I too hope we get Billings (assuming Boyd is gone). Can't believe how low Berg could go. #7 or beyond is just incredible for a kid that good.

Can't see him getting past the Dogs at 4 surely? If GC want KK then Berg must be in the picture at 5 also.

Shit, we've started this already?

Western Buldogs: James Aish

Following in the tradition of Adam Cooney and Ryan Griffen, Western Bulldogs take someone quick and skillful from SA with a top 4 pick in the draft. Just what they need given they look to be well set for for those who win the ball in close, but don't necessarily have great skills or pace.

Aish is all class and ought to be able to hit the ground running from very early on next year, after having played SANFL seniors for the past two seasons, despite being only 16yo and 17yo at the time. Aish also made the All Australian team in both those years at the U18 Champs, despite being only 16yo last year and very underdone this year, coming back from a shoulder reco.

Still to turn 18yo, Aish has been tipped to go as high as no.1 in this year's draft from a long way out and as long as his shoulders and body in general hold up, the WB could look back on this as a bargain result in years to come.

Pick 6: Collingwood : Marcus Bontempelli

Been linked to Marcus of late and with two picks inside top 10 they'll take the risk here. If he develops his inside game and defensive skills to match his pace, kicking and run and carry he has the potential to become a real A grade footballer. Prototype footballer with a huge ceiling. Collingwood has the job of turning him into the next Adam Goodes and not the next Cale Morton (the latter seems unlikely).

Gonna go with a bit of a punt here

Melbourne
Pick 9 - Matt Crouch
Mid - 181cm, 80kg

Although widely tipped to pick up Nathan Freeman with this pick, I think Melbourne need an elite extractor in their somewhat soft midfield. Melbourne are dead last in contested possessions and clearances per game so a player like Crouch should be a welcome addition, feeding it out to the likes of Toumpas and Trengove.

Pick 12 - Richmond
Ben Lennon
Utility, 187cm, 79kg

I feel like Richmond could really use a classy medium forward. The fact that Lennon can spend time in the middle is definitely a bonus. Also has one of the best names in this year's top draft crop.

Pick 13-Carlton-Lewis Taylor.

Wrapped to welcome this gem to the club. One of the best players (if not the best) from this years TAC cup, absolute ball magnet and has plenty of leadership as well.

On phone so can't tag.

Pick 14 - Johnathan Marsh
191cms
89kgs

Marsh could be anything. Much like Bontempelli he is seen as a future inside mid with something 'special' however should Marsh grow another few cms he could be one of the most dominating KPP players of the last few drafts.

Elite speed and ground work, he plays with the touch of a top end small forward, but he is a simlilar build to the likes of David Mundy, Jobe Watson and Josh Kennedy - the type of midfielders that a very quickly becoming top priority for teams. Between Marsh and Sharenburg the Giants could very well end up with 2 of the best to compliment the already talented young midfield they have put together.

That said, the risk is he doesnt develop and the Giants are left with a decent utility while the more natural mids taken later become very good players. With the wealth of picks and talent already on the list this is a risk the Giants can afford to take.
