You bastard! :p I had him tucked away for a later pick, but had to take two solid citizens first. With Rob Kerr using the media to make sure he does not get sacked- "We would have got player X, if this had not happened...."

Please, really? - I am trying to show him the future. ;)

Brisbane selects- courtesy of Knightmare re write up (creative commons I guess)

James Battersby (SA – Mid/Def)
Height: 177cm, Weight: 78kg, DOB: 7/11/1995
Recruited from: Sturt
Style:
Player comparison:
Range: 15-35
Profile: He is a real link up and run and carry type off a midfielder or back flank but a high production guy who finds plenty of it and uses it well. Battersby is one of the elite users of the footy in this draft class by hand and foot and he’s someone you want the ball in the hands of. He has real composure to him just making the right decision every time even when under pressure and then hitting his target up seamlessly. Battersby is one of the few players in this draft who can really use the footy on either side by hand and foot. Not only did Battersby play strong footy through the u18 champs but he has also played some strong senior footy back in SA which will please the recruiters showing that he perform against the best young players in the country and against strong bodies.

But seriously... :p

PICK 26: Essendon
Mitch Harvey, North Adelaide
196cm, 97kg
Player Comparison:Despite suffering a horrible injury 18 months ago, Mitchell Harvey has improved rapidly and is now one of the better key forwards in a crop that lacks key position players. The nephew of recruiter Matt Rendell was impressive at the under 18 championships, he presented well and marked strongly. His ability to provide an option for midfielders is what makes Harvey stand out; he is a strong mark overhead and he always looks like a marking threat inside 50. He has the size to out-reach most under 18 defenders and it is highly likely that he will retain this size advantage at AFL level. To add to all this, Harvey is quite athletic despite his size. He is capable of winning the ball at ground level and he has a nice first burst of speed. Harvey also possesses a long, accurate kick which makes him a dangerous player around the 50m line and from all angles. Harvey has a terrific goal to point ratio and he is a reliable shot for goal no matter the angle he faces. To improve his draft stock in what little football is left for the season, Harvey needs to start to show consistency and string together multiple performances of a high level.
Thanks for Rahul for the write up.

More than anything IMO, particularly with Crameri and Gumbleton heading to less pharmaceutical pastures, what Essendon needs is a key forward. Hurely is significantly better at CHB, but can hold down the fort at FF until Joe Daniher is ready to share the load with the more mature-bodied Harvey and then take over from Hooker with Carlisle in the other key defensive post. Grooming Daniher and Harvey together will mean the Bombers will boast a fearsome forwardline in the coming years.

Pick 29 - Rory Lobb
205cms
Unlisted weight

Lobb has a very athletic background (he ran the 3km time trial in under 11 minutes) which will help in the interchange capped furture of the AFL and has steadily improved his ruckwork to the point where he can genuinley be developed into a number 1 option.

There is a little talk that the Giants are interested in the big WA ruckman and looking at their list, he is a good fit. With Mumford and Giles the Giants are set but Mumford has injury history and Giles isn't the type to ruck a whole game alone ala Goldstein or Jacobs. Rory would be the clear 3rd option with the development of Phillips and Downie in question.

Why SOS didn't grab one (or both!) of Longer and Grundy I'll never know...

felsty you're first live pick is up!

North Melbourne
Pick: 30
Cameron Giles - Woodville West-Torrens
195cm 95kg

Could be being a bit generous with the measurements there but I see a gaping hole in North's defence once Grima, Thompson etc. move on (and lets face it they're not really young!) and Giles is the man for the job, even in a rather shallow draft for the big men.

Write up from Snoop Dogg -

Very under rated type who I suspect will surprise come draft day. I think he is probably one of the better key defenders in the draft if not the 2nd or 3rd best. Was good at champs but thought he was more defensive than offensive which worried me a bit. In saying that, he showed enough to suggest that he backs himself in a contest and is happy to create an exit option. His defensive work seems sounds and is rarely ‘gotten a hold of’ as someone put it to me. His skills are good and he is very composed so has some attributes which may see him drafted a bit higher. Went back to SANFL though and was very good. Has speed and agility to play a few different roles and is already physically developed.

Defacto is up with West Coast's second pick!

A little left field but great reasoning :thumbsu:
its a tough one with talent dropping off so I was looking for needs and north are pretty set. they need a pacy runner to compliment there tough on ball brigade but none really scream out to me from the draft. they are pretty good for all manner of forwards and their mids/rucks are solid. their backline will be their Achilles heel in a few years and I think Giles has the ability to plug a hole for the short term and be a strong defender in years to come - both offensively and defensively!

Pick 32 - Sydney - Nick Robertson
Medium Half Back
188cm - 83kg

Saint Christopher you're up.

Brisbane is just home after work and made beer my priority ;) Sorry to hold everyone up.

Pick 33 - Darcy Hourigan -led goalkicking at the nationals, won't be a key power forward but has Tom Lee/Gunston potential at AFL level. Comes in to take Cornelius' place. Hopefully not in the twos!

Pick 34 - Tom Cutler - starred in 2012 but has been injured this year. Would be a steal at 33

Pick 36 – GEELONG – Isaiah Miller

Club: Bendigo Pioneers
D.O.B.: 7.1.95
Height: 187cm
Weight: 82kg
Originally earmarked to go as high as the top 20, Miller is a talented yet creative midfielder/defender who is an elite reader of the play. Super athletic, quick and boasting a terrific sidestep – Miller has a big tank and is a bit of a pinball, in that he darts up and down the ground with ease. A fantastic mark, blessed with serious foot skills and sticky hands at ground level, Miller is one of the better attacking players of the draft who offers multiple efforts time and time again. Mature in the fact that he can roll off his opponent to impact a contest elsewhere, Miller also played two VFL games for Bendigo Gold and was in their best on both occasions.

Strongly considered all three of Mitch Honeychurch, James Tsitas and James Sicily here - particularly Tsitas - but the lure of Miler's fabulous kicking was too much; Geelong has been renowned for years now as a team who was not quick in terms of pace, but quick in how they moved the ball. Here they get the best of both worlds. Oddly enough, Knightmare has him going here in his Phantom too...

Outstanding pick up, TLE, well done, JKH is a steal at pick 35. I was looking at Cutler here, but he was also taken.

Freo select Dan McStay.

McStay is an interesting utility prospect from the Eastern Ranges. The 194cm key position player is capable of swinging forward and back throughout games, something that has made him a valuable asset to his football club. That said, McStay is primarily a defender and he is most effective in this role. At either end of the ground, he is a terrific mark and is capable of creating some excitement in the air. He reads the ball well and is strong above his shoulders. McStay could go as high as 30, as his marking ability is likeable, however I think it is more likely to slide.

I was surprised he was still there. I was looking at a couple of tall's for this pick then saw he was available. I couldn't resist!
