St Kilda complain about priority draft access in Oct 2024; now set to gain priority access to a first / second round pick via their NGA access

Ross couldn’t get it done with Riewoldt, Hayes, Goddard, Joey, Milne etc… not going to happen with Brad hill, Jack steele and camaniti.
Freo: Pavlich, Mundy, Fyfe, McPharlin, Ballantyne, Walters, Hill, Barlow, Neale, Sandilands.

There needs to be a 60 minutes special on how you can have Riewoldt, Pavlich, Sandilands, Fyfe, Goddard, Milne etc and across 15 seasons win nothing. Staggering really.

Here's the problem - you don't know when another club is going to bid on Fincher - but history shows opposition clubs will force others to use their earlier pick if it's around about the predicted bid. So let's say Fincher finishes the season well and becomes a top 12 prospect. It's almost guaranteed that a club will bid on Fincher before St Kilda's first round pick rolls around in order to take them out of the picture so they don't double up their first round draftees.

This is the exact reason Essendon traded away their pick 8 last year because they had been led to believe that St Kilda were going to bid on Kako with pick 7, even though his real draft value was around pick 15. In the end, he was bid on with pick 13 and Essendon matched the bid with several picks in the 20s & 30s. So that's the game you play when it comes to these situations. Opposition clubs won't like it if St Kilda get pick 5 + another first round pick in Fincher and will almost definitely force the Saints to use any earlier picks to avoid the double up.

So you can probably say goodbye to your pick 5 unless Fincher really drops away in terms of his draft value. Your pick 5 likely becomes a player valued in the teens + another pick or two in the 20s or 30s.
Your saying St kilda will be the first team to pay a reasonable price for a academy player?? colour me suprised. Was either gonna be us or Freo ;)

I was also very suprised when he won nothing in those 15 years, you know Freo and Saints are shit teams when they keep a coach for so long when he cant even win a single match.

Your club exists to bolster a tv rights deal and has done nothing despite having every advantage.
If you say so.

Out of curiosity, why does your club exist? The Saints are 1 premiership ahead of a team that's never played finals, despite having been in the competition for an extra 114 years.

No. That will end up being Brisbane.

Brother, why do you think the Saints still exist? Glass houses, my god.

St Kilda still exist because our supporters have saved the club from extinction many times. From players accepting (almost worthless) shares in lieu of player wages, to supporters running concerts, events and campaigns, to supporters today donating to funds on top of their membership contributions.

What would you reckon is the biggest hardship your clubs supporters have overcome?

**** off franchise stakeholder.

If I’m a saints fan I wouldn’t be questioning or making proclamations about why other clubs in the league exist.

The biggest hardship Brisbane lions fans face is having to read these incoherent threads, mainly populated by Saints fans who don’t know the difference between academy players and father sons.

Then don't participate? Also it's never St Kilda fans starting them, it's always oppo fans looking to take cheap pot shots. Take it up with them if you want to see less of these threads.

It’s fun though. Who cares who starts the thread, the old Sainters put these issues out there and then populate the threads telling us why it’s unfair that we are able to recruit the Ashcrofts from our academy.

Lyon dropping little bites for the faithful.

Firstly blame the academies.

Then it was having to play undersized (blame injuries).

Now it's the umpires cheating against them with the Daicos comment.

Master deflector. Knows exactly what buttons to push with the fan base.

Saints could win another 5 games and leap frog the Demons, Port and Bombers.

That would be the worst possible result if they miss out on the elite inside mid they desperately need.

Steele has pretty much checked out and they can't expect to rely on MacRae to keep playing inside mid for years to come.

Pick one.

Pick one.

This is the problem isn’t it?

I said the word hardship. Your immediate thought is to give up and quit. To not post anymore. As a lions fan we see hardship as a reason to persevere and engage. To lift ourselves up by our bootstraps if you will.

I’ve never seen a more beautiful demonstration of the difference between two clubs supporters mentalities.
