Look like he is " shocked to be standing there"
As I understand it, he complained to his captain about not getting a free.

Selwood told him to try a duck.

Unfortunately Hawkins couldn't hear the reply and asked Savage, who relayed the advice but with a kiwi accent

What's with the extra time players are getting to dispose of the ball now ? A 180 spin tackle used to get the job done now a full 360 like Jack's on Henderson doesn't cut it. WTF ? What are they looking for ? A 540 FFS.

Check out the tackle on Dangermouse a couple of mins into the first quarter. Ample prior opportunity, he's tackled then incorrect disposal as he tosses the ball into the air, he grabs it back again and is allowed to dish off the handball. C'mon get real.

Did anyone see a bit of Milney in Gresham´s goal in the last quarter ?
People are comparing him to Boomer but that move on the boundary line and snap had Milne´s evasive skills
and goal scoring nous all over it. I can see when he pounces on the ball and runs into the F50 there is definite similarities to Harvey but close to goal on tight angles and shooting for impossible goals his does it eerily similiar to the great little man himself.
Milne + Boomer = Jade Gresham :)

I think he will end up as a pure mid who can rest forward.

Agree. He plays a lot bigger than his height suggests. Very strong around the core, great balance & agility to move laterally around players & through traffic. Once he gets a few pre seasons under his belt & builds the tank he'll feature in the midfield.

I see sam mitchell if anyone in him

One thing that hasn't been mentioned after the win and it doesn't even slightly matter now but why was Selwood allowed to tackle jack when he kicked the last goal off the ground.

Prolly didn't have time to blow the whistle it was that quick.

Pretty sure swinging your arm back & hitting a bloke across the face (Ruggles), as is happening in this photo, is both high contact & front on contact....
Pretty sure Bruce had a run and jump at the contest, which means any 'frontal contact' was initiated by his actions.

Is this your first return to the forum since the Goldstein decision?

It seems that you always pop up when there's debate about umpiring decisions.

You weren't paying attention to any other threads since then?

I've also clearly stated in the past I'm fairly opinionated regarding claims of rigging and perceived missed decisions.

Used to do quite a bit of boundary umpiring and standing in to umpire for my cricket club when we were batting (was a bowler, so no batting for me unless they wanted a quick lift of the run rate in as few balls as possible). Then there's the umpiring I used to do at state qualification tournaments when I was playing badminton at that level.

Yes, I would give LBW decisions against my own team if they were there, and I didn't take any bullshit from opposing teams who would make appeals for 'not offering a shot' or some other complicated rule they didn't understand. Woe to the player who needed to ask twice which side they started on.

Totally agree with the above sentiment of the umpire treatment of Josh Bruce. The club need to get on the front foot and take a sample òf some of the blatant lack of protection and frees to the umpiring department. If they dont get any joy there then Richo needs to roll it out in the media. It has been occurring all year and Josh to his credit just gets on with play, but perhaps he needs to start playing it up a bit more to attract there attention.
I do not agree with playing it up a bit. Our Saint Nick gets a fair bit of grief and when he complains he just looks like a sook. I love the guy but who likes watching a sook. Watching Hawkins for example when he feels hard done by is just embarrassing. Is he a big man playing footy or a girl?

Bruce will benefit from a season in the gym to bulk up a bit. He has skill, but best of all he just 'gets on with play' A quality to admire.

Pretty amazing game. Still recovering from the excitement.

One thing I love about the side at the moment is there is a lot of X factor. Some of these guys, they seem to be capable of playing unbelievable football. As a result, we are unpredictable to play against. Ross has exploded, Dunstan and Acres seem to be emerging now, Weller is a gun, Gresh has shown that he can be A grade in a year or two, the forward line is super-dangerous... all these areas mean that we are exciting and dangerous when we get going.

Have to give huge credit to the backline, they stood up especially in the final 2 mins when the ball got pumped in there 4 times and we were able to hold them off. Delaney, Gilbert, Robbo, Roo all had important moments in there at the death, as well as some good clearance work from Acres. We need to work out how to hold the ball better at the pointy end of the game if we are in that position again.

When you look at the amount of good young guys doing well in the seconds, throw in Billings, then Carlisle next year, this is a very exciting time to be a Saints fan.

I thought that, but the ball didn't bounce at least twice before going through ;)

I can't wait for him to start getting bigger disposal numbers. He just doesn't waste them. His 16 on the weekend felt more like 30.

Yeah, I was surprised when I saw his numbers after the game too. He does seem to pop up at the right time pretty often.

BT absolutely butchered the Gresh GOTY contender.

Thankfully we'll get to see that on 360 with the radio calls attached.
Don't know about that - I actually thought BT called it pretty well and called it an "absolutely unbelievable" goal as it was kicked.

More interesting is hearing the "ohhh" from either Richo or Lingy as Gresh stepped around Lonergan then the "ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh" as he actual kicked the goal.
The absolutely involuntary nature of that signalled how good the goal actually was.

Richo or Lingy then said "That's the best step i've ever seen"

Just finished the replay. So the Guthrie holding the ball decision didn't even result in a score. Why the complaining? Such a cheap copout. Do Geelong want to talk about the downfield free against Roberton in the third leading to a Cats goal? Does they ignore Membrey getting taken high 25 out midway through the 4th with Gregson getting the same free 5 seconds later? They talk the Hawkins push in the 4th, we raise the McCartin free against at the start of the 3rd. I could count about 3 I50 marking contests with Bruce getting interfered with without a call... Really could go on and on.

The point is the game was level pegging for the majority of the second half, they had the lead twice, they had 6 I50's in the last 1.30min, it's pretty rich to be pointing to the umpires for the reason why they lost. It wasn't a 100% perfect performance, but we were phenomenal.
