If you'd moved Curnow on faster you could've had another pick to get Flanders. And still retained the compo you got for losing TDK and Silvagni.Or the saints were the only ones willing to offer up a top 10 pick for but do go off King

Landing Reidy is a good start fire the replacements though. Good stuff.
Flanders couldn't start in front of Hewitt or Cerra?Flanders wouldn't get a game in our starting midfield. Certainly not worth moving a Coleman Medallist for. He's going to StKilda for cash and opportunities. Same reason most players move.

Flanders couldn't start in front of Hewitt or Cerra?
Hewett is agree, two way mids are underrated. He's not better than Cripps, Cerra or Hewett. Cerra is a 50/50 when both are fit, and they'll invest heavily in Smith and Walker who are high end talents. It would be a bad career move for Flanders.
Hewett is agree, two way mids are underrated.
Cerra though… eeesh. What did you pay for him again?
Not sure anyone’s gonna be all that concerned about a player you’re not drafting until next year anyway.
Flanders has scope for improvement with us, Cerra looks to be going backwards. We paid an almost identical price to what St Kilda just paid for Flanders, and at their best they are very comparable players.
Flanders wouldn’t be a top 3 mid at Carlton and Cerra isn’t either. He will start in the guts at StKilda so it’s a good move for him.

I guess we’ll see in due course
Flanders chose St Kilda for the money and nothing else

No team is perfect the bulldogs have a good midfield but that is off set buy having a atrocious back lineThat's a bottom 6 midfiled.
"Cash and nothing else"
"Cash and opportunities"
Oh its a game - the next Cartoon nuffie has to add an extra reason why Sam chose St Kilda and so on.
His choices were Saints, Blues, Dees, & Bombers. You honestly think its just for money and opps? I dont believe you.
Here's a fun game:
Name Carltoon’s starting midfield (ruck not included) in 2 minutes:
START..........
Ah shit out of time.
- Cripps
- Jagga?
- ?
- ?
Hey did you check out Voss's B&F speech? Bloody hell, staring down the barrel of a pretentious long-winded "We Must Be Better" for the next few year. Zero substance beyond "It doesn’t sit comfortably", which is right up there with "I really hate losing". Any remaining Blues players were probably wondering where in the house their suitcases are and calling Matt Owies for "a catch-up".
Opportunities
Yeh it’s a truly disgraceful thing to feel a bit stuck behind checks notes current brownlow medallist Matt Rowell…I named our starting midfield about half a dozen posts up. Flanders wouldn’t get in it. He’s a decent player nonetheless, who has made a great career choice. MoneyOpportunities

Nice rant.
Did Alex Davies win a brownlow as well?Yeh it’s a truly disgraceful thing to feel a bit stuck behind checks notes current brownlow medallist Matt Rowell…
Fair point. The only reason Cerra stagnated was because of the poor management of his hamstrings last year. He just came 3rd in the B&F off 19 games (which was admittedly surprising) so is clearly doing something right.
I would back them to have similar output next year and similar careers long term. Neither are elite but not every player has to be.
Cripps and Hewett are 30 and are likely to see a regression from here as opposed to setting new heights in their careers. We paid an almost identical price to what St Kilda just paid for Flanders, and at their best they are very comparable players.

I really don't give a shit to be honest, I just know we're both picking up players that couldn't get past Alex Davies. If I was an Essendon supporter I could think of about 8500 things I’d be more concerned about than Sam Flanders motivation for leaving but I suppose it makes sense to be a bit salty given you guys went hard at him too.
Going to be very upset when you realise that he has left plenty of money of the table to sign with the Saints, muscles.Flanders chose St Kilda for the money and nothing else
Wish we had the privilege of watching Brayden Fiorini waddle around next season.I really don't give a shit to be honest, I just know we're both picking up players that couldn't get past Alex Davies.
It looks nice to say "he was stuck behind Rowell and Anderson" but that's bullshit when a young player like Davies pushed past both of them.
Actually you’re getting players that couldn’t get past Alex Davies knocking you backI really don't give a shit to be honest, I just know we're both picking up players that couldn't get past Alex Davies.

It's a couple of VFL powerhouse clubs that seem most bothered. I suppose nothing lasts forever. Eventually the gift blockbusters that underpin sponsors, attendances, player movement will fade away and they'll need to stand on their own two feet. Might be good for them.St Kilda must be doing something right otherwise nobody would be wetting their pants as much as you lot are...
The best part is watching the likes of Essendon and Carlton fans who have been absolutely irrelevant for 20 years and are still in wonderful irrelevance. Never mind all St Kilda is doing is spending money that has been banked for a few years....Common sense aint so common
