hi guys,
i've come up with this team as your best of this century so far. this is not taking into account anything any player done prior to the year 2000, even if they played in both eras i was only considering their performances post 2000-. this is for a book i am one of the contributors for due to be released in 2015. thoughts?

No way P. Everitt should be in the team, was only good for us in the 90's and I doubt he played more games for us in the 2000's then Burke or Loewe.

Everitt, Hall and Burke weren't here long in the 2000s (and I haven't forgiven Hall for sucker-punching Maguire), McEvoy is still earning his stripes.

Maguire played 99 games for us and was excellent before breaking his leg, plus the team needed an extra key back. Gardiner's been the stand-out ruck for the time frame, he was enormous once he got his body right. Voss Junior and Blake are in the team for similar reasons, adaptable, versatile, useful players, able to plug gaps anywhere. Not sure about starting Voss in the forward line but I've done it.

As for the Saint-less AFL team of the century thread happening on the main board, there are a couple here worth consideration. Milne could go in for Johnson but it's arguable, more arguable would be Riewoldt in for Tredrea, but Harvey and Hudghton should also be considered. Hudghton's the most underrated defender this century. But that's a fight I'm not really willing to have on there so I thought I'd post it here.

Serious? Who's doing the books on potential future father/son recruits down at StKilda?!?!?!

Surely we could have sneaked him in for 1 more game in 2009, considering he was playing VFL almost every week?

That would have been Lyin in 2009. Not surprised that this would not have been any consideration of his.

Hall left at the end of 2001, so I wouldn't have him in there. A few of the suggestions made by other posters make more sense as well so I'd consider them strongly

Are we talking hypotheticals. Not sure McEvoy is even in the same league as Gardiner.

Hall was not saintly post 2000. Everitt was not either.

Replace with Kosi and Scheider/Geary or MacGuire
