In a home and away match, fair enough.
This is a GF ffs, the ammont of work each team has to do to even get to that one day in September, should mean all is equal.
The game went along fine for over 100 years with those jumpers. Clash strips in a granny is just taking stupidity to a whole new level.
At the end of the day though, if you win the game, you wouldn't care if you were wearing speedos.

But your clash strip IS the Pie's Traditional strip. You didnt have a black back for 100 years!!!

Google the 1966 Grandfinal. You will find:

St Kilda - black back, white number
Collingwood - white back ( with black stripe), black number

Collingwood could wear there 'clash' guernsy with no problems at all, same as in '66

I see a solution.

Lets pretend that St. Kilda finished 1st on the ladder, so Collingwood will wear their clash, and after Collingwood wins the premiership, we can pretend that the Saints won so their supporters would stop crying.

If Collingwood didn't change their 'home' jumper from traditional white back to popular dark = home new age AFL shit, I wonder if ""The Big Clash Issue"" would even exist? Never a problem against Carlton, St. Kilda, Essendon, the original home. Just wear that on the weekend with white shorts, you have the better clash outfit, make the spectacle look good. Black on white looks better anyway. Bloody maggots.

Though its a correct call, common sense should prevail and St.Kilda allowed there Home Guernsey's.
But we all know that would leave a loop hole for an Eddie McGuire rage fest when the Saints win and we all dont want to see Eddie's mug on the TV.
Easier this way, but still hilarious that Collingwood dont have a clash Guernsey...
Would of been hilarious the other way around to see what would of been done.

it doesnt matter who wears what there is a massive clash.

so both teams should just wear what they want.

So they should.

Minor premiers on their home ground should always get priority.
That should have nothing to do with it because both teams have got to the GF only by qualifying via the Elimination Finals.

I couldnt see Eddie accepting an away strip, and I doubt Vlad could see it happening without a sulk either. This decision keeps the peace. :thumbsu:

care factor zero down at Moorabbin, only Collingwood froth up over this one due to a massive inferiority complex about their importance. They think it makes them a better club than everyone else (as does putting the Australian flag on their crest).

Yawn.

Who cares, if St.Kilda were guaranteed a win if they wore a Bright Pink jumper they would do it.

They change into the proper one after the siren.

This is such a non issue.
Agreed. I think it is a good call by the AFL, at last they show a some balls on this issue(atm).

I think the higher ranked team should get the option of what shirt they wear.

Why can't both sides wear their traditional jumper and St Kilda wear Red Shorts and red socks??

It is still their colours and would stamp out totally any clash at all as one would be predominantly red and the other black.

Very simple.

Would be hilarious if you had a clue. It is the back of the jumpers where there is a clash. We both have black with white numbers.

As such if we had finished below the Aints we would wear our black on white with white shorts. But we finished higher and can wear what we like.

Then why can't we wear this?

Stop sooking. The last time a StKilda captain hoisted the premiership cup aloft, he wasn't wearing the traditional StKilda jumper.

I'm a firm believer that Collingwood should have an appropriate clash strip.

However - they finished first, won all their finals and deserve all the benefits that go along with that - including the right to a preferred uniform.

The AFL should be strong at the end of the season, ensure all teams submit appropriate clash strips - and threaten with forfeiture of games if teams don't comply.

Home ground has absolutely nothing to do with it, its the AFL taking the easy way out because trying to compromise with Collingwood is impossible.
Dunno how they made the decision but if it is as you say then all credit to the club for its strong stance over the years. It's what I have been saying for years. Don't give an inch because it will be used against you and you will be pushed another inch by the AFL.

That said, I don't see why anyone has to wear a clash strip this week.
