I'm here at work with my heart thumping, this is a nightmare.

Other 15 clubs supporters, be thankful you don't have to go through this kind of crap.

I am in shock, we're a rabble. Help. :(

Yeah I hear your pain ...

... well as a Freo supporter, I know the feeling of an off field rabble - I am just amazed that a club has gone lower than us this season, and stepped once again into the nightmare of coach saking and rumour mongering - I feel truely sorry for you St Kilda die hards, and know that a fellow football supporter truely feels your pain.

:( :( :(

just received this from 'kev's footystats' email service....

Ahead of the one o'clock (13:00 AEST) press conference in Melbourne, inside sources reveal the St Kilda board met last evening at which MALCOLM BLIGHT was asked to end his coaching tenure under a *parting of the ways* clause in his contract. Blight agreed to end "The Ride of Your Life".

GRANT THOMAS will be the caretaker coach.

I can sympathise with all Saints and Freo fans this year. It is horrid when your club starts to implode. 1998 was our year for that, sacked coaches, board member walkouts, then the deposing of the chairman etc etc etc.

Our thoughts are with you all.

I only feel for the St Kilda Supporters.

All hyped up for this season, and your coach quits not even after a season .

He was a ******** anyway, the Sunday Mail's quote of the week was "If you work in a pigsty, you tend to perform like pigs" - malcolm describing facilities at st kilda

He also said other crap to the media about the club, what a prick you's should be happy he's gone.

Now yous have a good 4-5 months to find a good young coach (possibly ex player) that will lead your list into the future.

I mean yous have the list to make the finals!!

This says far more about the St Kilda football club than it does about Blight IMHO.

Blight pointed out a number of flaws at the club ranging from culture to furniture. Now whether he resigned or was asked to leave, clearly the club was not happy about these comments being made. IMO the club will never achieve it goals if it cannot first come to grips with reality. This is a big problem for a number of clubs (Richmond come to mind) where there is a lack of aceptance of reality and therefore an implicit acceptance of mediocraty ("we finished 12th because....insert excuse here...but we have a great list that should make the finals"). Highlighting some fo the problems at St Kilda was the only way to get them fixed....nothing else had worked since 1966. If the board cannot handle that then they are part of the problem not part of the solution and should leave.

Another theory is that he wanted to trade Harvey/Burke and Loewe and was overruled. Well why not ??? He is the coach after all and if he thinks that the way to win a flag is to trade them and get in more kids then that is his decision to make. It certainly worked at Adelaide. IMO if he was sacked for that then that is appalling....you bring in a guy and pay him squillions and then some board hack tells him how to do his job. He needed to make a call as to whether they would win the flag with that squad (not finish 6th or something "respectable"...win the flag). Now I would agre with him that those players are never going to win St Kilda to flag....if they could they would have done so by now. So if trading them wins you a flag in 5 years then so be it.

St Kilda are a shambles. The biggest concern is that it may take some time for the club to accept that reality, and time is not something they really have a lot of.

Hopeless.

ptw

Do you think St.kilda will come out firing because of all this?
Or will this advantage the Bulldogs and make them win by 15 goals?

Lets hope the Bulldogs win by 15 goals.

Good call the Dogs are in BIG Trouble....

But as for Blighty I think thats a fair call. It seems to me Blighty has always been unorthodoxed and when tursted to go through to the end he did the job in Geelong and Adealiade even if he ruffled a few feathers. But I guess he did the job, 2 flags in adelaide and 3 GF appreances in Geelong... a good effort. he deserved until the end of next year at least. It seems similar to when Alves got chopped just higher profile
