One minute I look at the scores and Freo are well in control. This is at some point in the 3rd quarter.

Next thing I look at the scores again, the full time scores, and the Saints blasted their way to a win. Maybe they are going to be competitive after all. Spider was right. Wow.

Keep in mind that they were playing Freo at a venue that wasn't Subiaco.

That said, the Sainters put in a great quarter and a half from the half-way mark in the 3rd. At full strength they will be a force in a few years.

Well done Saints and Swans this weekend. Two less teams in the running for a priority pick. Tiger fans, any chance of two more wins in the next 5? I'll settle for one win and a draw or three draws or .... unless of course we beat Collingwood and Essendon in which case you are not allowed to win any games at all! :p

Next week isn't looking too good for Port at this stage..

Anyway, about the game, if it wasn't for Pavlich, McPharlin and Parker... we would have lost by 15 goals.

I wouldn't be too worried at this stage Porthos. We were scintillating in the last 1.5 quarters, however realistically Freo should have been 6 goals in front at that stage on the balance of play.

Match Summary - Reiwoldt was BOG for mine. Turned the game on its head when he went down back. Stood up when it was needed. Gherig was also very good, however he will be suspended this week. He hit Leigh Brown, when Brown had his back turned and deserves to get 1 or 2. Everitt was injured (for some reason we got a run on when he went off?? ) That is a huge blow, especially considering Primus' emportance to your side.

You worried me MightySaint.

I was at the other end of the ground so didn't see the incident at the time. Anyway I just finished watching the replay on Fox and Fraser stupidly put Leigh Brown in a headlock out of frustration. The umpire was correct to award a free kick. He certainly didn't strike him so he won't be reported. It was just an undisciplined act that was lucky not to result in a goal. Still I didn't think he had that sort of aggression in him and now the game's over (and we won) it's not that bad. The way he dominated in the forward line when switched forward went a long way towards us winning the game and might have surprised a few of his critics in WA.

Nick Riewoldt and Fraser Gehrig were our best players. A fit and firing Brett Moyle adds a lot to our midfield and takes some of the pressure off Hayes, Thompson and Black. The first half was close to the worst I've seen us play this year and we were extremely fortunate to not have been blown away. The latter part of the third quarter and the last quarter was just inspired footy and a joy to watch. It's the second time we've won two in a row this year and unfortunately we have to follow up playing Port Adelaide away next week. Last time we'd won two in a row we had to follow it up with Brisbane at the Gabba.

On the issue of wooden spoons, let's just say that John Elliott might get a nasty surprise when he steps into the Carlton Social Club on Monday morning. :D

Hey Sainter,
I saw the incident out of the corner of my eye and thought there was nothing much in it. However when I had a look on the replay, it really did look crude, especially as the guy had his back turned. There are 2 problems in my estimation

1) He swung the arm and connected with Brown across the neck in order to get him into a headlock

2) The tribunal is so inconsistent is that he could get three or get off depending on the mood of the tribunal. Plenty have gone for lesser things this year.

Obviously I hope he gets off and plays against Port. He gives us fantastic versatility and i don't think that at this stage of our development we are a show without him. BTW, who do you think will take Tredrea? Maxy, Reiwoldt, Gherig, Schwartze?? I'm inclined to give it to Max given his form this year, but its so good to get the injuries out of the way and have some choice and versatility!!!
