The Chancellor has green lit the Old Trafford and surrounding area development. Not surprising with Andy Burnham involved. Nothing concrete on percentages of funding yet and for what parts. They are planning to have everything agreed by the end of the season.

The current Secretary of State is greenlighting any plausible development project atm so this could all move quite quickly to a proper agreement.

Devil will be in the detail.

Development to benefit the community, build houses, improve transport (although the need for transport improvements is much more pressing in other parts of town) then great.

Any funding for the stadium, or any purchase of land from United has to be to the ultimate benefit of the taxpayer, not to non domiciled Ratcliffe.

And they better not sell the "Wembley of the North" as a community benefit. No one in the north wants a Wembley of the North, no-one needs it.

It is a government backed project. Everyone is going to be upset and there will be enormous waste and cost over runs. Raynor/Reeves will definitely push the Wembley of the North line down everyones throat.

Look how much growth we've accomplished haha

I expect the stadia to be fully funded by Banks/United with the benefits to the surrounding area to be jointly shared by United and the community but mostly if not completely funded by the government.

View from near the back of the south stand. It's steep... but my oh my that's a spectacular view.

Would you be safe from DCL's skied efforts up there?
If there's one thing DCL doesnt do it's sky shots. He's more likely to dribble one in.

Not sure if Garnacho will clear the roof. I assume they're putting nets up for when Nunez plays

Will be a million times better for the attending supporter but I do miss the character of the old grounds that we've all but lost.

It'll take a while to settle in. We'll be much happier playing there than Goodison.

The happy medium is modernising old grounds like we have but it has pretty much cost what a new venue would have.

Yeah the close to the pitch action like Highbury (as an example) was great.

Craven Cottage is pretty close from memory to the pitch.

Craven Cottage is a beautiful ground.

I love Loftus Road as well.

Loftus Road is awful!! Unless you're under 5'5 you struggle to fit into your seat.

There was certainly leg room issues and it's probably because I don't go every week but there was something special about that stadium that I didn't feel with the others.

Walking up to it you see nothing and then all of a sudden a stadium appears in the terraces. The old school feel of the stands and the surrounds. Just felt like a proper football ground to me, rather than the same soulless templated stadium everyone else seems to get now.

Yeah I dunno this reminds me of my mate that was sad when Cheers got renovated and lost its sticky carpets because it meant it was losing its soul. Nah mate it's just getting nicer carpets lol. Or he'll sit in the members stand at the SCG where the only food options are pies and chips and VB and Tooheys New rather than the new stand with the pizza, burger, and endless beer options because of the old school feel.

Plays into that whole nostalgia feeling we know and love haha.

I'm with him though, I love the pie/chip combo at the footy. Reminds me of being a kid when Dad used to take me to the very odd game. Brings back that feeling in a way that the new age stuff doesn't.

That's not to say I can't/won't enjoy alternatives. I've been in private boxes at the SCG and in the members at the MCG and they're always a good day.
