News Stadium: The NEW Home of Football in WA

I lived in Melbourne and the MCG cleared in minutes even with the GF crowds.

Yes understand, the ground clears quickly but have you ever been to Richmond Train station after? It’s total chaos with huge delays just to get on the train every time I’ve been there.

Comparative to that you can get on a train very quickly at Optus, so notwithstanding the walk that I get is inconvenient for some folks, the whole system works pretty damned well in terms of moving folks to and from.

The derby only has single seats left - I would've loved to go but watching it on the big screen'll be just as good.

I went to my first Optus stadium game on the weekend and ended up sitting in the nosebleeds.

I still loved it. Amazing.
I believe they are releasing 1200 tickets tomorrow morning. Don't give up yet!

Confirmed 1200 extra seats available tomorrow.

Don't let the blu n yellers buy them.

if it's just you and a friend do what i did, i purchased tix where you sit in front/behind your buddy (first seats in aisles) they say restricted but if its too much just stand at the bar bench thingys around the ground

Yair! How has Buddy managed to keep playing all these weeks since Round 1? If it was one of our players we would have slapped a TBA sticker on him and kept him off the field for the rest of the season.

If you're on Murray St, I'd skip the train and get the bus. Much easier and less crowded than the train. The 661 rolls down the terrace every couple of minutes and you'll easily get a seat. Trains are a mess by the time they reach the city. If you're desperate to travel by rail though, then just head to Perth Station and ask someone which line it's on.

When I used the train to get to the open day and the cricket games there was staff everywhere telling you where to go. Generally speaking follows the same route as the Armadale or Thornlie lines (which until the stadium and a bit beyond are the same line anyway).

For the poster on Murray St. If you enter from Murray St you are going to the part of the station that does Mandurah and Joondalup. You’ll see heaps of people leaving the Mandurah train to switch - follow them to the northern part of the station and they’ll sign it well enough. Otherwise just cross Wellington St and enter from there - may have to go up or down to cross train lines but that where the right trains leave from.

Bus will be more comfortable but might take less time. An extra five minutes would be worth the extra comfort imo although I’ve never used the Elizabeth Quay bus but from my experience of the Fremantle bus it’s pretty good. The actual bus is a good service all things considered imo. It’s just the way the bus port is organised that I think needs some work. My experience of Freo games seems to be the west side (where the Elizabeth Quay bus is) of the bus port is empty after about 30-45 minutes and the east side is still struggling away.

The Elizabeth quay bus in is great. Been on it twice now, about 30-45 mins before the game starts. There will be 3-5 people max when you board, they run every few mins and they don't fill up much at all or take very long to get to the stadium.

The bus ride in far outweighs trying to get on a packed train in Perth.

Yep, and you can just jump on one from the terrace, no need to go to Liz quay

Tell that to the oldies and the not so fit who find the extra walk very difficult. Doesn't make any sense what so ever and talking to some of the attendants last night they feel the same way. Its not used at the MCG or Etihad and I can't remember anyone being crushed by a stampeding crowd there . Its nanny state bullshit.
The problem is the train station is right next to the stadium. There has to be controlled lining up. Otherwise you'd have a mob crushing to get to the stairs and mayhem ensuing. The snake line helps get people away from the stadium and ensure people aren't waiting within the gates themselves. Some control especially after a good win.
I like it, very organized and you're not waiting long at all really, surprisingly as I was shocked how many people were waiting to take the train.
Perhaps should have more lifts in place.

But there should be the same system in place for the buses. Ridiculous system that. People just pushing to the front.

140 and as expected our seats listed as 'drip line' means if it rains we get wet.

No huge drama there, our subi seats were in the open as well but I have to admit one advantage to a 60k seater stadium that comepletely eluded us on Saturday was that instead of debating whether to don plastic or watch the remainder in a pub with a proper pint, 90% of the time there will now be the third option of joining the unwashed up in the nosebleed seats :).

I noticed on Saturday as well that the bars were open after the game rather than the alcohol cut off at 3/4 time. I rarely bother buying it at the game anyway but nice to see its an option and anything that helps keep a few more at the ground is a good thing.

I think we're definitely looking at a drive to Vic Park to a friends house and then the bus to stadium, at least as the default, the bus situation has been fantastic for the first two games before and after the match.

The great "unwashed" in the nosebleed seats are very happy with their entire ground view.

We can still clearly make out who is who and enjoy full strength beer in the Skyview room!

Enjoy the liquid sunshine!

quick question which may have been asked already, but I don't have time to read every post on here........... if you are going to the Casino after the game, can you park at the Casino?? I don't fancy catching public transport in the wee hours of the morning after the game.

Yeah I would park early and outdoors at where the dome used to be though - although if you're leaving early in the morning the lines for the multistory wouldn't be that bad - post game they are heinous

There's a path you can walk directly between the cas and stadium
