Only part I don't agree with - I will never 'jump off', but I will be critical if I think the performance merits it.

However, otherwise, I have this odd feeling that we'll overcome adversity. Fatal optimism? :D

Let's hope you're right.:thumbsu:

we need you here this weekend :p
everyone always talks about how loud you are, and that it gets everbody going.

i couldn't even hear the 'supporters group' last weekend.

More like passionate and enthusiastic about getting others around him involved in creating a better atmosphere. Loud is a word associated with an obnoxious supporter, Macca_no1 isn’t obnoxious.:thumbsu:

I didn't mean that - I meant loud in a good way.

I wasn’t having a go loz, but you get some loud supporters who just make it unbearable for everyone around them. Macca_no1 isn’t like that.

I would suggest that the 6000 – 10,000 AFC supporters who were at the Western Bulldogs game made more noise than 45,000 do at a crow’s home game.

yeah i thought the same thing when i went over for the richmond game @ telstra dome - adelaide supporters there were making a -lot- more noise than an aami stadium crowd does.

I will be there against Melbourne.

I would still go even if we lost every game of the year. Unfortunately I had to miss one game this year against Collingwood because I moved house that day and after 10 hours of moving fridges, waredrobes and beds I was just too exhausted to go.

I was still planning to go on the night, but decided at the last minute that the walk from Bartley Tce to the ground and back would have killed me.

I know and understand that everyone has a right to go to the footy but in general we have way to many old fuddy duddies who go to the crows home games and just sit around and watch it like it’s theatre sports.

I enjoy going to games in Victoria way more than home games at AAMI as they remember that there are two side that are participating in the game, not the one.

I'll be there with the rest of my noisy, one-eyed passionate and loyal crows supporting family !!

LOUD AND PROUD IRRESPECTIVE OF RESULT !!

Goody called for the players to band together and stand up in the face of adversity, so we all as Crows members/Supporters and a vital part of the footy club should take note and do the same !! If they haven't given up, neither have i !

I think the lack of opposiiton supporters are the main reason for the lack of crowd involvement.

My fiance is a power supporter and goes to many of the games and I have even managed to drag her to some crows games and she claims that the level of crowd participation is about the same. I complained to her once when she went with me that noone was cheering except for a clapping after a goal. She said trust me its no difference at the Port games, many people only cheer if it is close or if Port are coming back. Most of the time it is just clapping after a goal.

I think most of it comes down to lack of opposition supporters. From my experience Showdowns and games in melbourne tend to bring out the voice in crows supporters

I'm seriously not worried. We have the depth to cover the injuries and we have the right club to win the flag. GO YOU CROWS!

You've inspired me arrowman.

In 1997 we all felt sick when Vards broke his collarbone against the Cats and Mods went down with a bad knee in the Prelim. Most thought it was over and wondered how we could cover that much loss of firepower in the GF with St Kilda.

Then we won.

Men of the Adelaide Football Club

We approach the 2006 finals in troubled times. We have a lengthy injury list including several key players. Our opponents are becoming increasingly determined, and able, to match up to our strengths and exploit any opportunities we may offer them. Our form is down, and at the end of a long season our bodies are starting to tire.

You have every reason, every excuse, to write off this season and make an early exit from the finals.

Every excuse - except - You represent the Adelaide Football Club, its history, its pride, its jumper, its members and supporters across the state and further.

Some of you may in the future have the chance to represent your Club in finals again. Some may not. But all of you have the chance this year. Here. Now.

You have the chance, and you have the responsibility, to put everything on the line and make the most of an opportunity that for many players never comes in an entire career.

Your supporters are behind you. Your supporters will cheer you every step of the way, and urge you on to efforts and achievements that perhaps you are beginning to doubt are possible.

No excuses, no ifs, no buts.

It starts now.
we exist to win premierships......:thumbsu:

Let’s get real for a second in 1997.

We only missed Mark Ricciuto, Tony Modra and Peter Vardy.

Simon Tregenza was basically playing in the SANFL with Port Adelaide and didn’t have very much influence on the season and Mathew Liptak was injured for 85% of the season.

TOA and Barry Standfield were players comparable to Michael Doughty and Scott Stevens now, nether are and were game winners but very good role players.

So injuries in 1997 were no way as severe as they are now.

And as the saying goes, history is written one day at a time.

I remember sitting in Bay 132 on the outer wing back in the un-Shaw years one night - I think against Hawthorn. It was ****ing with rain - the wind was as cold as a night in a nunnery - we were 12th on the ladder, we were 13 goals down - and it wasn't even 3 qtr time yet.

:( :(

Then it started to hail

As the usual suspects around me started to file out - I remained steadfast.....a whole new level of resoluteness swept over me to the point where I firmly believed that it was incumbant on me to remain and cheer my side on. My wife raised an eye to the sky and said to me....."whaddaya reckon... " - and I said..."Go if you want - take the car - but I'm staying....I'll get the bus" She said to me - "how could you possibly want to stay to watch them play like that on a night like this.????"

Just then I was reminded of a line from that old movie "Zulu" when a frightened soldier contemplating certain death in the face of a determined enemy said to his Seargent Major......"Why us Sir?"...........The SM replied...."Because there is nobody else lad....just us......no-one else"

As a determined smile came across my face - the 3 qtr time siren went -and despite having my dry hands inside my jacket - I sneered at the prospect of amputation as a result of frostbite, and stood to applaude the boys to the huddle.

We got smashed by about 16 goals and I still have the dents in my head from the hail........but I have never left a game early since (and neither has my wife).....and when the final siren went at the MCG in Sept 1997 - that was one of the first memories of our path to the flag that I recalled.

The positive about our predicament this week is that it will give our supporters something to go "spak" about on Saturday afternoon. Most have sat and just observed while things have been going well. Now I'm positive that every real supporter will be at AAMI on Saturday, and will cheer and barrack every contest........because we are not fair weathered supporters or a front runners club.

I bet you guys love that movie the Mighty Ducks. I lost so much respect for you guys reading this thread, it's like reading a B-grade script for some sports movie ab out a team that comes from behind, against all odds etc. etc.

Actually, it sounds like 97-98 again.

Sh*t.

In seriousness, now you know how I felt two years ago when Melbourne were favourites after round 18, only to bomb out in straight sets. Let's hope for your sake your club doesn't suffer the same fate.

Crows98 - you are so right about Stanfield and TOA - I was trying to build a bit of levity and bravado - but hey - by all means - let the facts get in the way of a good story if you wish, but I didn't think that was what this thread was about....;)

Also - Tregenza was seriously comprimised by hammys in 97 - and would have played more than 10 games of footy for us had he not been injured.

Running out of Boards to post on.....?

rj it could be said that your entire existence on big footy is like watching a b-grade R&B music video......so don't be too critical.......;)

but thanks for your sentiments regarding our prospects - I'm sure Saturday will be a great game....:)
