Gone back to its kiddie roots after a great deal of story build.
Maybe I'm just missing a new arc building.
Where is this show going, Disney fluff piece?...trying on both fans, new/old fans for good measure?
Last series showed some, disappoint so far.

Filoni lamented that season 3 was hamstrung by Disney because they wouldnt let him do too much leading into rogue one, story wise, but he did at the same time say but hey we get thrawn!

Because GG.exe keeps banging on about it in unrelated threads I downloaded a nice 1080p copy of the 1st episode of season 3.

Visually it was often better than I expected, the 'wide shots' stuff particularly.

If I was 12 or younger I'd think it's ****ing awesome.

But it is so clearly a kids show and if you think otherwise you're in denial bigtime. The characters jump around like they're in a cartoon. And the dialogue and most scenes could very, very, very generously be called young adult.

TLDR; Decent kids show now shut the **** up about it :p

P.S. Nothing about the new movies is going to be revealed in this.

That's the problem with Rebels -- exactly that -- that Disney hamstrung it because Rogue One was approaching, and Rebels season 3 is like so close in time to when Rogue happened. So Season 3 was always going to be a wash. Just fill in episodes to entertain the total SW nerd (like me). Silly fluff stories. But when Rebels started, Disney gave Filoni more creative room to incorporate tie ins with the movies etc. Just bad timing on the Rebels series, that only two seasons into it and then the Star Wars Anthology series was announced, pretty much curtailing its longevity.

Yeah it was back to the good stuff.
Certainly they meandered and created BS filler stories. The start of Season 3 and finally now, episode 10, the good stuff uncorked.
But they need to do more.

Would be awesome if Ezra went and trained under Maul and than the show turned really dark but considering it's a cartoon it won't happen.

Hopefully Obi Wan's actually in the shown at some point.

I still firmly believe Ezra is Snoke....so I think it'll head that way -- show turning dark.
But even if that isn't true, I think the show keeps pushing Ezra and Maul together, so we should see more darkness anyway from time to time.

Waste of a season. No character building, waste of Thrawn and it's mainly 'hey let's do this dangerous mission and just get away with no one dying' week in week out.

So, season 3 episode 15 was interesting in that
Sabine decides to stay on Mandalore, and the ghost crew go their own way. End of the story for Sabine in rebels, her story to finish being told in some new Canon book. Looks like we're heading to the end of rebels. Where all the individual members stories go off their own paths one by one, all in reaching the proximity of the A New Hope time. Notice one of the last episodes for season 3 is called Twin Suns, which no doubt is ezra and maul or Ezra only and their involvement with obi-wan.

Was a very good ep, me thinks things will not end well for Agent Kallus come seasons end.
You can see of late that it looks like they're wrapping up Rebels for good over the remaining episodes this year.

First Sabine last episode bids farewell to the Ghost crew.
Now this week it looks like Kallus will be executed soon...tho "Fulcrum" will continue under the guise of Thrawn....like he in the end will be the one who discovers the location of the rebel base for what transpires in the Original Trilogy.
Think we're gonna see each episode from here on out speed the story up, tie everything in a neat bow.

Am I the only who thinks Season 3 could be the last of Rebels?

They could probably drag it out to 4 or 5 seasons if they're just going to pump out filler episodes.

I love anything Star Wars, the expanded universe away from the Skywalker Saga, but at the same time, it seems that the writers of Rebels could do a better job of creating riveting content and stories in themselves. So many of the episodes have neat little easter eggs in them. Cool, but that's not what a tv series is supposed to be about. Rebels "should" be a universe in itself too that can stand on its own two legs story-wise. Episode after episode of characters running little errands back and forth, with barely a risk-reward materialized, traipsing about conquering all. No gripping arcs, where one can emotionally invest into the characters.

If they do return for a season 4, I'd hope each episode is not a beginning-and-end in itself. Fillers. Errands. But that it's like a slow reveal, an actual story being followed that's broken up into 20 episodes. Like a movie-length story, that they then break up into 20 pieces and air weekly, with a cliff-hanger each episode. And the story is actually thought-provoking, more deep-and-meaningful stuff.

Adults watch these SW tv shows, more than kids.
