...Perhaps there could be an argument that force sensitive people are more emotionally attuned to each other. That could explain Luke’s reaction to Ben’s death and Leia’s reaction to Rey after Han’s death?

But like I said earlier if you discover your burnt out home and the smouldering skeletal remains of your parents I reckon it’s going to take you a little more than a long drive to get over it.

If something like that happened in TFA people would be going absolutely batshit crazy, frothing at the mouth berserk about it. #OMGdisneyruinedmylife

But some people have one set of rules for the OT and a completely different set for TFA.
Perhaps, but he also knew that the Imperials were gonna be looking for him and he had to get his arse off planet with Ben and the droids, definitely a mourn later situation. Also he seen Ben die... or whatever happened in front of him, which would add a bit of trauma.

From Advisor Tashu in the Novel pg.161 "Aftermath:"

"No Sith remain," Tashu says. "And the lone Jedi that exists--the son of Anakin Skywalker--possesses an untouchable soul. At least for now. We must instead move toward the dark side. Palpatine felt that the universe beyond the edges of our maps was where his power came from. Over the many years he, with our aid, sent men and women beyond known space. They built labs and communication stations on distant moons, asteroids, out there in the wilds. We must follow them. Retreat from the galaxy. Go out beyond the veil of stars. We must seek the source of the dark side like a man looking for a wellspring of water."

Looks like Snoke is the powerful wellspring that Palpatine was searching for. Could Plageius have hidden in the Unknown Region, then been found only once Palpatine had perished? Or is this some other more powerful ancient darksider?

Hours after finding his murdered parents he is on the Falcon excitedly doing lightsabre training and talking with Han and Ben about the force. It’s okay, it’s a movie they are just getting on with telling the story, that sort of thing happens all the time. It’s would be a totally unbelievable reaction IRL though.

Something a little interesting from tf.net....

Why would a god need a spaceship(or in Snoke's case a mobile command ship), follow the same sound Star Trek logic used in that movie by Kirk here with SW . Why would Snoke need an Empire of mortal soldiers and superweapons and an army of dark side enforcers/knights? A God is all powerful and able to transcend time and space, a god is unlimited power and fears nothing as he's beyond human comprehension , the Alpa and the omega. Whoever this Snoke is, is just a moral man like The Son and like Darth Sidious, nothing more, nothing less. We know through Leia that Snoke needs Ben, and that he is is using Ben Solo for his powers. Its because he's of Skywalker bloodline . Then obviously Snoke is not a wellspring of power(the Force) let alone of the Dark Side incarnate - if he was he would not be afraid of losing power as its impossible to eliminate bad and just have good, there can be light without shadow its eternal. Snoke is obviously mortal, this is shown as he's damaged and aged. He, like Sidious is using Anakin as a weapon as his ace card. He is using Ben/Kylo for his Skwalker Force power which basically all goes back to the prophecy(and throw in Mortis) . And this whole both the Light and the Dark could simply mean Snoke himself has limited Force ability for whatever reason or may not even be Force empowered as we have not seen him use the Force once. He could have many Force sensitives under his employ(he apparently has or had many apprentices and these Knights of Ren appear to be them), perhaps he uses " seers" like what Sidious wanted in "Children of the Force" to be his eyes and ears and acting out like precogs from Minority Report movie. We know Sidious surrounded himself with Sith Cultists who were knowledgeable in the Dark Side and of the Sith but were not themselves Force sensitive. The Empire appeared to have been recruiting(Stormtrooper cadet program) or kidnapping Force sensitives and placed a few in their Inquisitorius.

In Aftermath , its basically what remains of of Sidious' Sith cultists trying to find the source of the Dark Side, not a being. They're leaderless, and no Sith Lord lives that they know of(Vader and Sidious dead), so if they came across the first Dark Side being they discovered on their journey and placed him upon the Emperor's throne or Snoke placed himself there, the passage is simply essentially about Satanists looking for a new Devil king leader to align themselves with and be ruled under. Snoke is out to destroy the Jedi as it appears like the Sith did, the Jedi are his only threat and natural enemy. So whoever this Snoke is, he could be a wanna-be Sith as much as Kylo is a wannabe Vader which is also a wannabe Sith either way. He's got Kylo running around with a red lightsaber like the Sith or their minions(Ventress and Inquisitors). Snoke has some knowledge of the Empire and of Vader or he's just bluffing. But I find it hard to think that Sidious would not feel Snoke spying on him, Sidious shared power with no one, not even his Apprentices were assuredly exempt from his treacherous and greedy nature

If either Snoke or Plagueis were so powerful then they would not need an apprentice let alone more than one at the same time or through the years. The Sith like the Jedi follow the Jedi tradition which they spun off off. They needed an apprentice to eventually replace them and carry on the tradition, but the only way you gain the place of Sith Master is if the Master dies naturally or his killed or murdered by the enemy or by the hand of the apprentice. If Plagueis was so great then Sidious would not of been able to have destroyed him and claimed unlimited power and the mantle of Sith Master in the first place. Sidious killed him, unless Sidious has a bad habit like Obi Wan(Maul and Vader) of leaving his victims alive or an inability to kill(Maul, Yoda, Windu and even Luke).

There is nothing that supports Snoke or the now defunct Luceno version of the Plagueis character as being one of the same person let alone them being essentially being Dark Side "Gods" or Satan himself. Why would Sidious believe his powers came from somewhere else in another universe and yet not tie it to Plagueis whom he was sure he killed, makes 0 sense. Sidious was taught everything Plagueis knew before he killed him - which included the ability " to use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life" and he was able to keep himself from dying as he was unnaturally long lived.
Still doesnt mean they won't find a person, if you cannot find its source, energy wise, what would be the next closest thing? a Person, the first person who used the Dark Side, a canon Ajunta Pall if you will. Its not out of the realm of possibility that the first Dark Side user was incredibly strong, imprisoned or exiled, than, as stated in the book, came back around the Clone Wars then takes an interest in the Skywalkers.

In fact maybe, borrowing from the EU how the Emperor was bracing the Empire for the Yuzhan Vong, its possible The Emperor was bracing for a a smaller more personal Invasion, of a similar Rival Faction to usurp his Sith Regime, that Regime possibly being Knights of Ren and Snoke

As a side note no one is saying the power would be in another universe,The acolyte simply stated its beyond known space in the Unknown Regions, in canon thats where a place like Korriban (is it now Morriban i think?) or Zoist could be

another interesting comment...

Are you kidding me?

Luke...treated badly?

Are you ****-ing kidding me?

In case you missed it, a galaxy-threatening military force, replete with a solar system destroying super-duper weapon, led by two Force users, are utterly, completely, shitting their pants terrified of Luke Skywalker! This one guy has them quaking in their boots! Snoke's position is basicially "if the Resistance can bring Luke Skywalker back into the game, we are well and truly [censored]"

The mere mention of his name generates either awed reverence or mortal terror. When the bad guys want to scare each other at night, they tell Luke Skywalker stories. Think I'm exaggerating? Consider: When the good guy tells a mere grunt that he's figured out how to find Luke Skywalker, said grunt's reaction was essentially "CRAAAAAAP!!!"

Here's the thing: We don't know why Luke vanished, we have supposition. I see an awful lot of people extrapolating why they think Luke hasn't been seen in years, and then their bashing Luke based on their own suppositions. In Faulty Reasoning 101, we call this a Strawman Argument.

We still have two more movies to learn Luke's actual motivations. In the meantime, chill out! All of you, for the love of all that's holy, chill out! With any luck, we'll get our first teaser for Episode VIII attached to Captain America - Civil War, which comes out in roughly six months.

He wasn't a Jedi then, just a farm boy with a dream of adventure
Good lesson never to rush in to fornicate with someone, in case they turn out to be related.
Always better having a few dates first to work out who they are, etc.

Plus Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru are just 2 people who happened to know his Grandmother and met his father once. Honestly I'm surprised they even took him in.

Maybe Phasma is a good guy/lady. She didn't react to Finn panicking very harshly at all , then turned off the deflector shields upon request. She was planted by the resistance and possibly even made sure Finn's brain washing wasn't adequate.
She also defended him when Hux was looking at his file.
