They've confirmed in an interview, I think games.on.net, that we'll be getting shafted with the same downtimes we currently are. I think due to the way they engineered the game, they absolutely cannot do seperate downtimes per region as you'd start getting version mismatches when you tried to log on to a server that was more up to date than yours, and then if it updated you then, you'd be screwed if you went back to your normal one until it was bought up to your client version.
 
Aussie servers (brings a tear to my eye).

Hopefully what people are saying is true about free character transfer as not redoing a level 50 and 20 all over again.
 
Just got my copy today. I was OS until a week ago so I decided to wait to buy the game on Oz release.

Damn it takes ages to install! Does anyone know whether it's worth starting up now, or waiting until 10pm so I can just start on an Aussie server.

I'd start a char now and get used to the game play a little bit.

How is this game going popularity wise? I started playing on release lasted about a month and cancelled my subscription. Found it a little too tedious and most of my friends had quit by then.
 
Ping has been reduced from a floating 500-800ms to a stable 70ms from Perth on the new servers:heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart:

It sucks we have to wait 2 months for character transfers, but its given me a good reason to try out the Republic side, and now on a packed server with a really chatty community.

I give EA a lot of shit but they've done an outstanding thing here. PVP is actually playable, and the whole experience is just so much better now. Hopefully the local servers steal enough local WoW players to make Blizzard and other MMO dev's understand that they won't compete in the Aus market without putting down the funds for a local server. For Blizzard in particular, its ****ing pathetic.
 
Anyone else thinks its ridiclous that we have to wait 2 months before transfer? I got 3 Characters at around 34-38 and i dont want to have to start over on them!!

So the only realistic option is to choose another character which none of them are currently jumping out at me.

BW promised early march a few months ago and the day of the release they say its going to be Apil.

Its leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

P.S on the plus side if Mass Effect 3 rocks my world it wont be to much of an issues because i wont be on SWTOR as much.
 
First time I've ever played an MMO. Quite interesting so far. I was a fan of KOTOR so this is what I've Ben waiting for.

I like that so far you can do most missions solo. I thought that finding a group to do a heroic quest would be hard but it isn't. Just finished the Black Talon flashpoint. Was a real pain until I found a healer for the group.

Loving playing as a Sniper. Makes for a different experience. Will eventually play as a Jedi Knight. One day.
 
Alright peeps - no one has posted for a few weeks in this thread. Question... What server(s) should I start out on? What server(s) do some of you play on?

Quick question... Even after spending 200+ on games today I'm going to pick up SW Tor (then I'm done on games until the top releases later in the year, or so I think) but I'm looking at the SWTOR website and it allows me to buy Standard or Deluxe edition. If I buy the standard edition am I able to upgrade to the deluxe edition at a later time? (Not so worried about an increase in cost but rather the ability to do so later).

Glad I'm not the only one with the problem, went to select my character but the list is empty and I was worried for a sec.
