Pretty sure seth that it's the committee who decides who goes in.

Ok,just wondered if there was a minimum requirement.
MVRC has always had the last say,for some reason I thought you needed to be a Gp1 winner at minimum.

COMMITTEE DISCRETION:
The Committee of the Moonee Valley Racing Club may in its absolute and unfettered discretion:
(a) Exclude any horse or horses from the 2007 TATTERSALL’S Cox Plate (subject to exempt races) irrespective of whether or not the field limit of 14 horses and 3 emergencies (the field) as at final acceptance time shall be reached;
(b) Exempt any horse or horses.
(c) Select the field to compete in the 2007 TATTERSALL’S Cox Plate with the assistance of an advisory panel including MVRC Manager - Racing; RVL Director, Racing Operations & Chief Handicapper and in so doing have regard to but not be bound by the race conditions set out above.

Zipping is in for sure, he's won over 2000, always around the mark or best run of the race against the best and he'd be one of the top chances.

He smashed Maldivian, Marasco, Efficient etc and beat El Segundo in the slow zone on Saturday.
The horse to beat with Miss finland.

This is a Gp 1 WFA,not the MV Cup for stayers

We want horses like Zipping in the Cox Plate..but for nuisance value only...

Idiots will flock to it like Frightening in the 2003 MC.

Cant think of too many Cox Plate winners who win their 1st Gp 1 race in the best race in the country.
Even in a year weakened by EI it seems unlikely IMO.
Would have run fave in the C Cup.....just greedy.
I guess you dont have to justify your decisions if money is no object.
