RUL - fairly ironic post as it turns out!!

Robina player here who played in the reserves. Without going overboard and keeping in mind nothing can be done about the result - pretty dissapointing to see a great game spoilt by a decision like that.

How a volunteer umpire can over rule a league official is beyond comprehension.

Did you tape the game? Would be interested in getting a copy as we have filmed a number of the games during the year but didnt on the weekend.

Good atmosphere on the hill - with one of our players even having the lions head on for a bit... Good luck for the rest of the year.

I grant that. It was a poor post from me from above.

Sadly I didn't get much of the game on film, only the first quarter as I found myself managing a few jobs on the day at the absence of our President and usual timekeeper.

I'm not in a position to say what I believed had happened. I was too far away from the 'score' to make any kind of judgement regardless. I am happy that we won, but we certainly should of won by a lot more when you look at the amount of scoring shots. That said, having been out there to escort the umpires off, I listened to what they had to say. They followed the process and made the ruling.

That said, I hate when Umpiring decisions cost a game to any side, regardless if its the team I'm involved in or a team I hate the most (Not mentioning any teams :) ) so in that sense I do feel for the Robina Reserves.

Luckily in the seniors, our bloke should be right for finals. It was definately a strong hit and I was left confused at why it wasn't an immediate Red considering that the player in question got yellow carded twice in that game. I clarified that with the umpires that there isn't a accumulation rule where a certain number of yellow cards results in a red card.

Either way, lucky we have the week off. It should give our bloke the suitable time to get ready for finals.

With our season over I went down to Oval 7 and watched. Our Div 1 boys take out 2 minor premierships. The seniors easily accounted for the Robina reserves with the a large number of 1's players dropping down to qualify for finals.l, even with the best forward in the league missing most of the game with concussion after a cowardly late hit.

The reserves had a controversial finish, with the above-mentioned decision.at the end of the day the bloke on the mark is the only one who actually knows if it wad touched, and the scores are locked away now. In any event, the umpire crucified Uni all day, costing them 3 goals and lifting Robina another 3. When you then also look at the scoring shots it's pretty clear our boys deserved the win even with the controversy at the end.

Firstly, the roos didnt drop 1 player back who had not already qualified.
Secondly, I think the guy who kicked it would know if was touched or not and he claimed it cleared the man on the mark by a good 3 meters at least, seriously post high from the goal square, you do the math of the ball tajectory.I think it is poor that the player on the mark allowed the debarcle to proceed.
Thirdly, your claim of 3 goals given to us and three goals taken from you guys is a huge exageration.. Regarding the scoring shots, well that can be contributed to the best wall in the comp that you guys put on at half forward however we were good enough to keep the pressure on when turned over and force you into taking pot shots from 50 and wide areas that get rushed. Once we broke your zone we clerarly showed that we can match it with the best in the comp.

All in all i think the game was an absolute cracka and just a shame that it ended in the joke that it did. The fallout was huge for us as it cost us the double chance in finals but at least we have the belief that we can match it with the best, have earnt the respect in 1st div and we're highly experienced in finals footy aiming for our 4th flag in a row. We're so focussed for avenging the outcome and know it will only occur in the granny, beware other clubs on the way!

RUL are you nice and comfy on that fence mate hahaha

RUL & PPop Having watched the game you would have seen there was a lot of niggle involved from both teams - the fact that every single player from both teams were on their way back to position around the ground and not 1 single uni player came near the bloke who kicked it says something to us about what really happened - you cant tell me in a game that close that not 1 uni player wouldnt have come in to tell the bloke he had cost his team the game?

Whilst you all refer to the umpire as Sir, surely your not all that good a blokes?

Yeah, he was a very good footballer for the Roos last year, too good for this division, but so be it. Not the first or last bloke to go down a level to play with mates.

what mates? one came back to the roos and the other isn't playing anymore from what i can gather.

i heard he was moving back to victoria to play with his old man next year.

won maroochy best and fairest last year with the likes of Ben Matthews, Ryan White, Peter Hay, Owen Bailey, Travis Mills in the team, so is obviously a very talented footballer.

any truth to the rumours peter sommerville signed on to coach caloundra in 2012?

Considering his mrs just had a baby and they are well settled into the sunny coast, I wouldn't put my house on it. Although he did visit Vic recently for a game.......

Can't believe that he won the B&F S36.. ahead of those blokes - White and Matthews were clearly the most important players in the Roos side closely followed by Elliott.

that place is disgusting in terms of rats running thru the old club and toilets are ferrel, why not at a state association ground?

3 quick reasons off the top of my head:

1. ground is 100% neutral
2. has pre exsiting fencing around the ground so AFLQ can charge to get in without spending a cent on temp fencing - reasonable parking as well
3. in the event that 4 different team qualify for the seniors and reserves gf's they have 4 sets of change rooms - ironically both div 1 and div 2 last year both clubs made both grandfinals and wasnt needed!!

elliott??? as in boof?? he had his worst ever season of footy last year, mainly due to living in brisbane and not really training properly.

is having a great season this year, still flying under the radar at grange. will be instrumental come finals.

Fair enough S36... wouldn't rate Morrison's year as anything special from the games i observed though. Still, like arseholes we all have opinions and obviously some people thought he played well so good luck to him. Bit disappointing to lose the B&F player to a local side then. Bit different to Whitey going home.

new on website and first familiar name i see is young Tye Morrison. from my son and nephew playing on or against him and getting to know him over the years i have seen his games many times so ill jump right in. not interesting in ruffling feathers but what games did you watch? most his games i saw he played his guts out. good on him, entering a tight nit team of blokes and having to prove he was there to work. he earned maroochy b&f and im sure White, Matthews and the rest of his team would back that up. it just shows how easy uneducated opinions are to publicly throw around by spectators. hes a bloody top young bloke and a hard working footballer and thats all that really needs to be said.

any chance of darren playing rules next year following his brother?

is there any coaching changes or resigns that you know of?

Lots of talk with the explosive showdown between Logan and Beenleigh on the weekend, but my mouth is watering about this Saturday at UQ, both games too tough to call, especially since both last time they played were draws

Don't know anything bout duffield, can someone fill me in on age, position, attributes? Great effort though some quality names on that list he beat.

Sweetie, Double D is 18 (may have turned 19 this year), and is a little champion. Former Kedron junior, absolute gem of a player. Midfielder/forward, but can play anywhere.

Massive work ethic, super fast, big motor, fearless, good user, and most importantly, very well grounded. When you speak, he listens, and always asks for feedback, which he uses to better himself.

Too good for state association footy, by far, but feels a great sense of loyalty to the club. Vice captain this year, which says a lot about how he is perceived by the club.

I coached him last year, and tried to get him a game at Morningside or Mt Gravatt during our bye, but he was unable to play on that day. He would be an even better player being in a system with some good coaches and a more professional environment.

I'm biased, but I honestly think he could go as far as he wanted to. I've seen less talented kids than him play league footy.

cant believe there is nothing going on in this forum...... but for today i think the kings will get it done in the ones quiet easily and in the magoos im going to say the boys from up north caloundra because what i heard from the kings vs roos game is that the kings were very lucky to in that one.
