The 10 teams of the Sweet FA converged for a "preseason" (sic) competition in Season 03, which actually operated during the first few rounds of the season proper. The name "sFA Cup" was a direct rip-off of the "FA Cup".

After the first round of matches, only one game of the second round was played before the competition was abandoned.

Razors, Titans, Hurricanes, Furies and Dogs won their first match, and the Furies defeated the Junkyard Dogs in the only game of the second round.

Interest level in the tournament was low from the get-go, but the rot set in when Darkness Eternal withdrew :

In a shock move that has sent shockwaves through the SFA, Darkness Eternal has withdrawn from the knockout tournament, the SFA Cup.

At the start of the season, CEO and captain, The Hitman, said he would play a weakened side in the tournament, which he described as "a Mickey Mouse competition". However, despite losing their first game, DE find themselves in the competition, and Hitman wasn't happy.

"Look, I really didn't like the idea of the SFA Cup in the first place. We here at Dark Park decided to treat it with contempt, but due to the shoddy premise of the competition, we still find ourselves in the mix despite losing - what's the point?"

Wanting to concentrate on their SFA premiership hopes, Hitman decided to hand the spot over the Mt. Buller.

"It was a simple decision. We've won three in a row in the premiership, and we didn't want to stuff our form up by playing second stringers. We want to win the premiership, and the SFA Cup just serves to distract us from that goal."

The Sweet FA Administrator at the time, EKA expressed that it seemed to be a waste of time would most likely be scrapped the following year.

Time constraints then hit hard on the Admin, at which point he asked for opinions on where the tournament should go.

Its not gonna happen, today and tomorrow and wednesday just got filled up and thursday to Sunday of this weekend already was. While i am on bigfooty now and then i aint on long enough to play a game and post all the results etc SO a) ditch it for this year minimum b) hand it over to...

The question was put to a vote and a clear majority voted in favour of ditching the concept.

Votes were 7-4 in favour of ditching it, its not fair that the season continues to be disrupted nor are there any guarentees it wont happen next time (regardless of who would run it) so for the sake of the season we shall ditch the sFA CUP, it will return next season in a different format ie...

Other iterations of preseason competitions did return in future seasons, although we haven't seen a tournament of this kind now for quite some time.
