State of Origin team line ups and goals

There's a simple explanation for the puzzling 1995 situation. Brother Gilbert played, it wasn't Adrian. Obviously post #30 has A.McADAM which has caused the confusion. Gilbert was named in the squad, Adrian wasn't according to the Football Record for the game.

This is from page 26 of the 1995 Rd. 12 Football Record:-
Most Kicks — The Allies
Nathan Buckley 23
Paul Williams 16
Darrin Pritchard 16
Don Pyke 16
Paul Kelly 15
Gavin Crosisca 15

Most Marks — The Allies
Paul Williams 9
Gilbert McAdam 8
Don Pyke 7

Most Handballs — The Allies
Gilbert McAdam 15
Don Pyke 14
Paul Kelly 11
Ryan O'Connor 11

Gilbert McAdam, not Adrian McAdam, played for the Allies in this game.

Fair enough, must have been a typo on the scoresheet from the earlier post.

So has anyone been able to find the detailed stats for this game? It's the one State of Origin game we are missing.

I seem to have found a team photo for NSW. The team appears to be

Michael WERNER, Craig NETTELBECK, John LONGMIRE, Glen COLEMAN, Bill BROWNLESS, Anthony DANIHER, Michael GAYFER, Darren HOLMES, Troy GRAY, Robbie NEILL, Matthew (Sanford) WHEELER, Tim POWELL, Glen PAGE, Paul KELLY, Andrew THOMPSON (not sure if it's the St.Kilda Thompson or a token local player), Jamie LAWSON, Leon HIGGINS, Dennis CARROLL, Terry DANIHER, Bernard TOOHEY, Neil BRUNTON, Adrian BARICH. COACH: Gary BUCKENARA.

Sydney had Andrew Thomson (different spelling for surname) on it's books at the time (1991-1993), and there's little doubt that he played in this game. The Sydney list for 1992 on the old AFL Historical Statistics website shows Andrew Thomson with 1 State of Origin game (for one goal) that year. He played 2 AFL games in 1993, and was recruited from Echuca. The St Kilda player didn't come along until a few years later.

Jason Dunstall, Michael Voss, Nathan Buckley and Michael Long all playing for QLD/NT in 1993. Matthew Richardson and Alastair Lynch playing for Tasmania in the same game.

Excellent. Never seen footage of that match.

Found some footage of the game, from what I can gather from that and an article on the late Troy Clarke here's most of the Queensland squad from that game.

Jason DUNSTALL (C), Gavin CROSISCA, Troy CLARKE, Michael GIBSON, x GRIMLEY, Matthew SIMPSON, Stephen HANDLEY, Stephen WEARNE, David WEARNE, Rod WILLET, Scott McIVOR, Ben STEWART, Matthew KENNEDY, Corey BELL, Steve McLUCKIE, Simon LUHRS, Rudi FRIGO, Darren CARLSON, Tony LYNN, Michael VOSS, 2 others that were apparently not associated with the Bears (there were 9 listed and 5 former bears amongst that 20).

Whilst they're not in positions, I've researched the squads through watching the YouTubes for a few games.

Peter SARTORI was the player not identified previously - played for Swan Districts under John Todd & went to Carlton. Ron ALEXANDER coached WA and Kevin SHEEDY the Vics.

Brian Peake 7 goals was trumped for Simpson Medal controversially by Brad Hardie, who played on Royal & Weightman when they were resting rovers and they kicked 5 each. Maurice Rioli was also brilliant as was Gary Buckenara, who snapped the match winning goal as the Vics kicked 8 goals with the breeze in final term & nearly stole it after trailing by 4 goals in third term. Hardie also won the Tassie Medal for best player across all state of origin games that season. Dale Weightman won the EJ Whitten Medal as the Vics best.
