I know I shouldn't believe a lot of what I hear on SEN but there's a very strong rumour spreading that SFA State of Origin will get the axe for the 2010 season.
In what looms as being a huge development the SoO would apparently be replaced by a blockbuster series of Bombers v Hawks matches.
Minutes from a recent SFA Admin meeting, scribbled on the back of a Maccas cheeseburger wrapper, were leaked to the media and is said to contain the following comments... "The squads being assembled by both teams look to be of better quality than any of the SoO squads that have been assembled over recent years. Only a handfull of players outside these 2 teams would realistically have any chance of pushing for a spot even if there was a SoO tournament."
The rumour may hold some weight as sources say that channel 9 are actually trying to arrange a special post-Grand Final edition of The Footy Show to discuss the matter with no lame dancing and miming.
Last year's SoO was a bit of a farce. Is it time to axe it completely?
Bombers v Hawks looks to be the way forward!
