Just want to see what everyone else thinks about State of Origin. I really wish that they would bring it back as I miss it and think it is great. What is your view. There has got to be someway of getting it back.

Interesting this call is coming from a Weagles fan.
It was due to the apathy of the WA public and the lack of support from the Weagles/Malthouse why SOO died. Was no fun for SA/VIC to play year in year out.

I know that WA wasn't terribly involved but the players seemed to like it and many of the people I know but also many didn't. I just loved seeing all the WA players playing for WA, not another club. Just bring it back please. I know I'm asking a bit too much.
If the players like it so much, why do they keep coming up with excuses not to play. It never ceases to amaze me how many star players come down with mystery ailments in the week leading up to the State-of-Origin matches.
I think the concept is irrelevant. It belongs to the days of colonialism. Hasn't the football world realised yet that Australia became a nation in 1901?
By the way, who the hell are The Allies? Didn't they beat Germany in 1945?

Very good, ha. They didn't seem to be able to get a good team did they the allies, i suppose that comes from being from the three less known footy parts in queensland sydney and northern territory

Say what you like about the Allies concept, I reckon it was a little contrived myself, but the actual team performed very well indeed in the couple of matches they played. They beat WA twice didn't they ? And gave Victoria a good run for their money too !

Now I come to think of it, i think they did beat WA twice and they did give the vics a run for their money, oh well, i couldn't remember as I haven't seen sog since it stopped, i suppose that is because it hasn't been on.
If you had a choice of State Footy again, would you go for:
a) A round robin competition with Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and the Allies play
OR
b) A carnival fixture with ALL the states representing themselves, meaning there is no allies but a Queensland, New South Wales (with ACT), Northern Territory, Tasmania

Yeah, option B, not only gives more players a chance but also more teams. I like that idea.
