G'day fellow SFA statisticians

Soooo... those who can collate the stats from the sim and translate them into excel looking nice and pretty, anyone wanna explain how to do that in layman terms?

I'll love you forever and ever

Anyone know where I can download a free version of MS Excel 2007?

I'm using OpenOffice, ever used that akkaps?

Did abit of googling. It should work the same way on OpenOffice.
Cheers for the help, a little unrelated, I always get the question "This file contains links to other files, should they be updated"... should I say Yes, No? Does it not matter?

Probably should say yes. The only problem this links to other files, is if you send the file to someone else. They won't be able to access the attached file.

Okay yeah this isn't as simple as I thought it would be lol

akkaps, do you type each individual stat in, like 0 6 10 20 40 129 etc. or just copy and paste what Logger posts?

So copy and paste from the stats. Just the numbers, no headings. And then use that first method I showed you. Just make sure there is nothing to the right of the column, otherwise it will write over the cells.
Alright cheers for your help, don't think I really got anywhere, might try it again later.

TheFreshBanana, I'd try this - if you copy the game data, go into OpenOffice, go to edit > paste special and click unformatted text, you might get a window like this:

This is the OO version of text to columns, it automatically popped up for me when I tried to paste. I think it recognised the data was space-delimited.

Anyway, click fixed width and click where you want the data to be split - you'll see red dots with lines below them, like what I've created. You can click a dot to remove it if you place one in the wrong place, too. Click OK once you've split them all and you're done.

Ah yep yep yep you superstar.

That's exactly what I was trying to figure.

Okay, good job everyone, we'd made some progress today...

I have, and I can't stand it. :D

Excel's hard to top.
Yeah it's annoying, but not sure if I want to fork out the $50 extra bucks just for the SFA :P

I had Speck send me his stats sheet, and I think he uses excel. Anyway, in a lot of his formulas he uses [[#This Row],[K]] for example.

I was wondering if the Open Office recognises such a formula in [#This Row], and if not, what's the Open Office version of it?

If you know...

Cheers

Haven't come across [#This Row] before.

It's a reference to something in a table though, in the column named K (assume K for kicks). I'm not sure how to create them in OpenOffice, but it shouldn't be hard to find.

Yep it is, and I couldn't find one for Open Office, but cheers for all the help.

Works for MS Excel 2007 and newer:

Separating the data into different cells:
Data -> text to column -> delimited
Okay so I think I've mastered this.

Now what?

The Wonders stuff should all be in 1/12th of the data listed so you can delete the rest and then make the left over Wonders data look pretty.
I meant for next season.

Ah. You want to do what my plan is for the Bandits, where you take the stats from the finished game, split them into the said columns, and put them into a predetermined location in a spread sheet, one for reach round, and then have all the stats automatically calculated and collated for you with minimal effort?

Im working on an excel sheet to do just that.

If you're nice to me, I might share it with you.
