Brad Hill (Hawthorn) has played 51 games but only lost 4 times in Melbourne.

2014 - Geelong
2013 - Geelong (2), Richmond
2012 - n/a

EDIT: now 51 games :)

If we define success as making and winning finals, Brad Scott and Damien Hardwick are well on their way to becoming the longest serving unsuccessful coaches in history.

The table below will be correct after 22 H&A games in 2015. I doubt North Melbourne will make a prelim this year, so Brad Scott's stats will be one of two listed.
- Bill Stephen coached his only finals win in game 235 (game 191 with Fitzroy)
- Jack Hale coached his only finals win in game 137
- Brad Scott's chance at his first win will be game 112
- Brad Scott and Damien Hardwick are both contracted until the end of 2016

| Teams | Games | Finals
\ Bill Stephen | FI ES | 258 | 1 from 2
\ Jack Hale | SY HW | 174 | 1 from 2
\ Bob McCaskill | NM HW | 138 | 0 from 1
\ Alec Hall | SK ME RI HW | 137 | 0 from 0
\ Brad Scott | NM | 135 | 1 from 3*
\ Brad Scott | NM | 134 | 0 from 2*
\ Ken Judge | HW WC | 133 | 0 from 1
\ Damien Hardwick | RI | 133 | 0 from 1
\ Arthur Olliver | FO | 131 | 0 from 3
\ Robert Shaw | FI AD | 130 | 0 from 0
\ Paddy Scanlan | FO SM NM | 126 | 0 from 0
\ Alan Killigrew | SK NM | 124 | 0 from 0
\ Bob Skilton | SM ME | 123 | 0 from 0

50% winning average in finals boosts Brad's stats a bit ;)

EDIT: Given that Hawthorn won, Clarko joins the list below:

Least Wins Coached in a Season by the Premiership Coach:
1 - CW 1930
5.5 - FI 1916
12 - RI 1943
12.5 - CW 1917
13.5 - FO 1954, FI 1922
14 - ES 1965, CW 1958, ES 1942, ES 1923
14.5 - ME 1957
15 - HW 2014, ME 1964, SM 1933, RI 1921, RI 1920, CW 1919, SM 1918, ES 1912, CA 1907

The 15 wins coached by Alastair Clarkson this year is the least since 1965: 14 wins - John Coleman (ES).

I want to narrow down these numbers.
The Grand Final has never been won by these (0-60) margins:

8, 16, 19, 21, 22, 23, 34, 36, 45, 47, 52, 54, 58, 59
Have preliminary finals been won by any of the margins above?

And then, are there any margins left that no final has been won by?

For the record, I'm tipping the Swans to win the Grand Final by 34 or 36 points.

I love stats. Can't get enough of them. However in the AFL, the team, venue and time during the year impact stats so ridiculously that it is frustrating!

Despite that great thread. Shattered it took me so long to jump on board!

Applying the < 60 rule:

Margins that haven't occured for either PF or GF: 34, 36, 47, 52, 58, 59..

Margins that haven't occured for EF, PF and GF: 36, 47, 52, 58, 59

Margins that haven't occured for QF, EF, PF and GF: 47, 52

Margins that haven't occured for SF, QF, EF, PF and GF: -

Hawthorn's win today was their fourth grand final victory by 50 points or more (1983, 1988, 1991, 2014). This equals Melbourne's feat in 1926, 1939, 1956 and 1957. Only Essendon have done it five times (1942, 1946, 1949, 1985 and 2000).

Getting in early for 2015:

1 game - Dustin Fletcher to go 2nd for Oldest Player
1 game - Dustin Fletcher to go 1st for Longest Career
11 games - Dustin Fletcher to go 2nd for Most Games played
13 games - Dustin Fletcher to go 5th for Most Senior Games played
8 wins - Dustin Fletcher to go 3rd for Most Wins
49 goals - Lance Franklin to go 20th for Most Goals scored

1 3-vote game - Gary Ablett to go 1st for Most Games Polled 3 Brownlow Votes
6 polled games - Gary Ablett to go 1st for Most Games Polled Brownlow Votes
10 votes - Gary Ablett to go 1st for Most (Adjusted) Brownlow votes received

2 finals - Shaun Burgoyne to go =3rd for Most Finals played
3 finals - Shaun Burgoyne to go 3rd for Most Finals played
8 finals goals - Lance Franklin to go 5th for Most Finals Goals scored

On Saturday the Hawks set a new all-time record for highest minimum score across a season including finals.

Their minimum score of 86 (scored in their loss to Port in Rd 10) was the highest ever.

The next best is 84 by Melbourne in 1941 and Geelong in 1994.
Considering across the league we had the lowest scoring home and away season since 1968, that is incredible.

Also the home and away season average score was 86.55 - so all games bar one Hawthorn exceeded the average.

Adam Goodes (351 games) to play on in 2015, thought I'd see what stats he could achieve:
- 16 to 24 games: 8th for Most Career Games
- 10 to 18 wins: 10th for Most Career Wins (assuming Boomer stays ahead of him)
- 1 final: only 6 players have played in 13 finals series
- 2 finals: only 9 players have played 28 finals
- 3 finals: only 5 players have played 29 finals
- 24 goals: 4th for Most Club Goals (passing Tony Lockett)
- 29 goals: 3rd for Most Club Goals (passing Barry Hall)
- should finish in the top 10 for Oldest Club Player

Listed here is the complete list of the order clubs finished in the Dr W.C. McClelland Aggregate Points Trophy from its origin in 1951 through to 1990, during which time it was judged on points awarded for performances in seniors, reserves and under 19 grades. Since 1991 it has of course been judged solely on performance at senior level. Hawthorn and Carlton have been awarded equal first position for 1985.

He's consistent I'd grant him that.

Also, Dustin Martin has ended 3 separate seasons on 175 handballs.

Wooden spoon to premiership in one year:

Jack McDonough - South Melbourne 1903 (14 games)/Fitzroy 1904
Ern Hazel - St.Kilda 1910 (1 game)/Essendon 1911
Norm Turnbull - St.Kilda 1920 (2 games)/Richmond 1921
Shane Clayton - Brisbane 1998 (2 games)/North Melbourne 1999

When Collingwood played Essendon in round 16, 2007, it was Kevin Sheedy's 628th match as coach and Mick Malthouse's 555th game as coach. Their aggregate of 1183 games is thus a record between two coaches who coached against each other. Sheedy and Malthouse are the only two coaches to have coached against each other with more than 500 games each. They both previously had 500 games when they coached against each other in round 5, 2007; round 19, 2006; round 4, 2006; and in round 16, 2005.
In round 5 of 2005 when Collingwood and Essendon met in their annual Anzac Day game, it was Malthouse's 499th game.
Another close instance was during the qualifying final of 1987 between Hawthorn and Sydney when Allan Jeans was coaching his 503rd game and Tom Hafey coached his 499th.

2 things.

Wasn't T-Shirt Tommy coaching in 1988?
If he was, wouldn't he've coached against Yabby?
