Most games without a kidney? When did Newman lose his?

Think Newman lost his in the '67 season, his first year was '64 and he played until 1980. I'd hazard a guess that he'd have played more games than Tom, although at the time he injured his in '06 he had only played a handful of games. He missed almost all of '07 before playing in the Ressies GF that season.

Interesting stat about kicks after the siren:

In the history of round 20, 4 players have wasted the opportunity to win their team a game after the final siren, 0 players have succeeded.
All 4 have been surprisingly recent also.

Adam Goodes vs Essendon, 2011
David Mundy vs Geelong, 2014

Special mentions to other recent kicks also: Hayden Ballantyne vs West Coast R18 2011, Tom Lynch vs Melbourne R19 2016,

This is an extract from Sam Newman's biography in the 1978 publication "Victorian Australian Rules Superstars"

"He forced his way into the Geelong side as a regular and looked like being one of Geelong's greatest ever ruckmen until he tragically injured his back in the 1967 first semi final against Collingwood. Newman clutched his right side as he went down and it was later discovered that he had injured a kidney. He was rushed to hospital where part of his kidney was removed."

"The Encyclopaedia of AFL Footballers" also states that Newman received his kidney injury during the 1967 first semi.
From that point onwards Newman played a further 233 games.

Until 1974, Hawthorn and North Melbourne had never played a finals match, but in the decade from 1974 to 1983 inclusive the Hawks and Kangaroos played 12 finals against each other, including 3 Grand Finals.

Until they played off in the 1983 Grand Final, Hawthorn and Essendon had never met in a finals game, and the Hawks and Bombers would contest the 1984 and 1985 Grand Finals too.

This is quite a unique grand final, even without looking deeply into history books.
I am sure we never had the two grand finalist play every week of the finals series.

Also both teams recently lost games and neither on a big winning streak.
Dogs have only won 3 in a row, Swans have only won 2 in a row.
Not sure the last time in league history that of the two grand final teams neither team had a winning streak beyond 3 at the time.
Highlights this season in general has been one of the weirdest in league history.
Are we about to see this first grand final go into extra time scenario ?

99981 - highest crowd for a Bulldogs win (GF 2016 v Sydney)

Previous records:
87823 - SF 2016 v Hawthorn
86411 - SF 1961 v St Kilda

Most goals in finals:
111 - Coventry (31 finals; 3.58 goals per final)
78 - Dunstall (21; 3.71)
74 - Titus (24; 3.08)
72 - Matthews (29; 2.48)
65 - Stephen Kernahan (18; 3.61), Alastair Lynch (20; 3.25), Lance Franklin (21; 3.10)
64 - Doug Wade (18; 3.56), Gary Ablett Sr (16; 4.00)
62 - Dick Lee (22;2.82), Jack Mueller (18; 3.44), Kevin Bartlett (27; 2.30), Peter Sumich (19; 3.26)
60 - Wayne Carey (23; 2.61), Billy Brownless (17; 3.53)

I'd say Lance Franklin, in finals, is not doing his job for Sydney. I don't care how many score involvements he has during the year, he needs to kick goals, and getting up to the wing and half-back won't win premierships for Sydney. His 3.10 average is nothing special for someone of his talent.

according to the odds and also the consensus, Dogs had 4 underdog victories in consecutive weeks, a feat as far as my numbers show has never happened in the last 13 seasons.
anyone have any suggestions for other cases where this might have happened? after a 3rd win the team would generally be in quite good form and probably favoured to win in the 4th match, very unique set of circumstances here.

In reply to Ron The Bear suggestion,
Tigers were awfully small favourites in the first game of that 4 game win streak in 2010, but that looks like its the closest example then
