Sometime over the long weekend or more probably on Monday itself, I thought I heard reference to Callum Brown being the sixth player to debut in the Melb v C'wood June holiday match.

After a study of the details on AFL Tables for Melb v Cwood matches played on those mid-June dates over the years
I think there are 11 names which should be recorded in that list:

1950 Arthur Pound (Melb)
1975 Terry Cahill (C wood)
1977 Brian Cook (Melb)
1983 Brett Cooper (C wood)
1993 Scott Simister (Melb)
2007 Danny Stanley (C wood)
2009 Jack Watts (Melb)
2011 Alex Fasolo (C wood)
2013 Adam Oxley (C wood)
2016 Tom Phillips (C wood)
2017 Callum Brown (C wood)

p.s. Yes, that Brian Cook - the Geelong CEO

Missing Tony Kelly (Co, 1983).

Not sure when the King's Birthday first became the Queen's Birthday (this site https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/australia/queens-birthday suggests 1955), or whether it was always observed on the second Monday in June.

2nd season in a row GWS has kicked 22.14.146 vs Brisbane.

Footscray kicked 22.14 (146) versus Fitzroy in both round 12, 1992 and in round 18, 1993. Both times Fitzroy's score was 84 (11.18 in 1992, then 13.6 in 1993). Footscray then kicked 23.8 (146) versus Fitzroy in round 14, 1995.

Great bloody gets Worbod.

Just a shame this wasn't page 146.

May be a hard stat to check, but there has to be some reasonable uniqueness about the scoreline when the Swans lead the Dees 2.14.26 to 4.0.24 early in the 2nd quarter this week. May that be the most behinds scored by one side before their opponents registered one?

Just checked the Geelong/St.K 162-1 game in 1899....and St.Kilda scored their only behind in the first quarter, and when Fitzroy scored their lone 1.0.6 in 1953, the opposing score had just six behinds.

Essendon scored 11.19 to St.Kilda's 1.0 in R9 1899

Collingwood led Brisbane 11.17 to 3.0 at half time in R8 last year (Brisbane kicked a goal followed by a behind to open the scoring in the second half)

That's incredible. Also, both times Chris Mitchell was a field umpire. Footscray was also on 64 points at Half Time in both matches.

In the four matches they played between 1992-1995, Footscray's scores were 146, 146, 144 and 146.

- Geelong have been stuck in 3rd position for the past 8 rounds - a new club record. The all time record for consecutive weeks in 3rd position is 13 rounds Carlton in 1984.

- When Sydney fell to last position after R5 this year, it ended an 18 year streak (404 games) of not ending a round in last position. This was the 3rd longest streak ever behind Essendon (54 years) and West Coast (21 years).

Are these stats available anywhere?

http://afltables.com/afl/seas/2017sr.html#tb

Adelaide have now led the longest.

West Coast and Essendon have both led a lot longer than GWS.

This is probably due to:
Essendon being the kings of the 1st quarter (won the 1st qtr in 12 matches)
West Coast being the second worst 4th quarter team (lost the 4th qtr in 10 matches)

Last year we had a remarkable round where the Tigers and Lions were scheduled to meet in the AFL, VFL and WAFL in the same weekend.

This weekend we have another set of amazing feline fixtures as follows:

AFL - Richmond Tigers vs. Brisbane Lions
WAFL - Subiaco Lions vs. Claremont Tigers
SANFL - Glenelg Tigers vs. South Adelaide Panthers
VFL - Richmond Tigers vs. Werribee Tigers

What a pity the VFL didn't schedule Coburg Lions vs. Geelong Cats for this round too.

In the four matches they played between 1992-1995, Footscray's scores were 146, 146, 144 and 146.

Footscray were a real bogey team for Fitzroy in this era, and the only team that the Lions failed to defeat in the 1990s.

As I'm just doing this manually from afltables.com, I encourage anyone to double-check for accuracy

Fremantle's last home game at Subiaco Oval (presuming the Dockers don't make the finals this year) will take place against Richmond in Round 22.

The West Coast Eagles played their first game, and the first AFL/VFL game at Subiaco Oval against Richmond in Round 1 1987, and in the year 2000, the Fremantle Dockers and Richmond Tigers played the last ever game at the WACA ground in Perth.

Ironically, the only teams the Eagles did not play at the WACA were the Tigers and the Dockers.
