Yes, I agree with pretty much all of that. I did say this on Footy History fairly recently, but there should be a page on the AFL website where confirmed changes to the official records can be shown, so people don't have to be unsure, or rely on others to pass on information about such things.

Nothing has been altered on this page regarding the 1910/Lee situation, why I don't really know!: http://www.afl.com.au/stats/awards/coleman-medal

It's not quite the same thing, but I'm glad they do at least have the AFL Season Guide updates page. At least with that they're prepared to admit there can be mistakes, and invite people to advise them of any errors they spot: http://www.afl.com.au/afl-hq/afl-season-guide-updates

What makes this situation even more extraordinary is the entry on page 87 of the 2018 Season Guide...

It is in the Collingwood part of The Clubs section.
The sub-section Leading Goalkicker Medal lists Dick Lee as winner in 1910 and his tally of goals...45 !!

Wow! Well spotted. I certainly hadn't noticed that!

Must have advised them half a dozen times now, that they continue to miss Rougheads' 75 goals 51 behinds kicked in 2008, in the Hawk leading goal-kickers section.....It's been 10 years since now & yet still no inclusion or alteration has occured. (Page 197 of the current 2018 edition).
That would be very frustrating indeed! The 2009 book had Roughead scoring 75.51 the previous year (in another section) but never included that tally in the most goals in a season part, and apparently haven't done since (despite your best efforts!). It looks very odd when the same player's 75.43 from 2014 is included.

I always get a response when I send something, and almost always they do make the suggested correction. It has happened occasionally that changes don't get made; I know one time I raised the issue again the next year and they did fix it.

That also happened to be the same year that Buddy kicked 113.88 for an overall total of 201 shots at goal.

When combined; Buddy & Roughy of 2008 comprise 188 goals 139 behinds between the two of them.
In 1977 Peter Hudson 110.50 & Leigh Matthews 91.57 combined for 201 goals 107 behinds between them.....Way more accurate.

Are these the 2 highest single season, single-team goal-kicking dual combo's ever?

Nice....That moves them up into second spot so far as goal tally combo is concerned:

Huddo/Barney.... 201
Disco/Hungry......196
Buddy/Roughy....188

As for scoring shots:

Buddy/Roughy....347
Huddo/Barney....308
Disco/Hungry.....305

Too bad Bud & Rough never had their kicking boots on.....They would have smashed all kinds of unreachable targets, had they been as accurate as the other 2 pairs.

I make this the top 8:

Peter Hudson (110) + Leigh Matthews (91) 201 in 1977
Bob Pratt (150) + Laurie Nash (49) 199 in 1934
Michael Roach (112) + Kevin Bartlett (84) 196 in 1980
Peter Hudson (146) + Bob Keddie (47) 193 in 1970
Peter Hudson (150) + Leigh Matthews (43) 193 in 1971
Lance Franklin (113) + Jarryd Roughead (75) 188 in 2008
Ron Todd (120) + Des Fothergill (65) 185 in 1938
Jason Dunstall (145) + Paul Hudson (39) 184 in 1992

Geez....You'd hardly call Nash's 49, Keddies' 47, Barney's 43 & Huddo Jnr's 39 a deadly combo.....More like chip-in monkeys.

Just did a quick check to look at any games where they both scored 4 goals each or more in same match.

1977 - Hudson/Matthews = 8 times plus 1 final
1934 - Pratt/Nash = 6 plus 1 final
1980 - Roach/Bartlett = 5
1970 - Hudson/Keddie = 2
1971 - Hudson/Matthews = 1
2008 - Franklin/Roughead = 7
1938 - Todd/Fothergill = 3 plus 2 finals
1992 - Dunstall/Hudson = 0

Most recent players to kick 7+ goals at the Western Oval:

2018, R04 - Brooke Lochland 7.3 (Western Bulldogs v Carlton) #AFLW

1996, R09 - Tony Modra 7.3 (Adelaide v Fitzroy)
1996, R06 - Matthew Richardson 7.2 (Richmond v Fitzroy)
1996, R02 - Darren Jarman 8.1 (Adelaide v Fitzroy)
1995, R19 - Tony Lockett 16.0 (Sydney v Fitzroy)
1995, R14 - Chris Grant 7.3 (Footscray v Fitzroy) --most recent for AFL Bulldogs
1995, R06 - Gary Ablett 9.7 (Geelong v Footscray) --most recent for AFL not against Fitzroy

I sent a few Season Guide corrections to Michael Lovett on Friday, and decided to give this one a mention. He got back to me in less than an hour, which I was very impressed with! He let me know that he'd be away for the next week, then should be able to have a good look at what I've sent him.

So we'll see how we go, perhaps I'll have better luck, and hopefully they'll finally get this one onto the updates page and then into the book!

While we're on the stats book, they still have Jack O'Rourke as the grandfather of Jonathon O'Rourke.

Yes, and I'm quite puzzled as to why! I posted something about that in the Footy History "inaccuracy" thread the other day. I did quote you when making the post, but you must have missed it somehow: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/thre...fficial-records.1089761/page-58#post-54334837

There shouldn't be any doubt at all that Basil O'Rourke was the grandfather, so at some stage the story will have to be presented to the AFL again!

Hope you're happy now!! With a bit of luck it will show up in the book next year!

Page 197: Under the heading ‘Most Goals In A Season’, Jarryd Roughead should be listed as kicking 75.51 in 2008.

I'm pleased to see they've included this among the many (new) changes: Page 623: Under the heading ‘Leading Goalkicker Medal’, the 1910 listing should not include Dick Lee as an equal leader that season. He kicked 45 goals in the home and away season, not 51.

Well that is good to see !

Now they can fix the entry underneath Lee's, and remove Gardiner from 1911 so that Brereton is listed as sole winner.

It's pretty clear that they need to hire you as their proof-reader/ sub-editor.

I have only sent them a few things so far this year, but there's a lot I still haven't really looked at thoroughly. I received an email from M. Lovett yesterday letting me know that the changes I've suggested would be made (except for one that they're still looking into) and would show up on the updates page in a day or so. Looks like someone else must have been very busy because there's obviously a lot of new stuff that's appeared just today.
