From Footystats

The Western Bulldogs-Gold Coast match played in Darwin on Saturday night provided the rare occurrence where neither club had a multiple goalkicker for the match – Bulldogs 9, Suns 4.

Last time this happened (according to the Footystats records) was in 1999, when the Port Adelaide 4.8 v Richmond 3.12 match, contained seven single goalkickers.

It was the first time this had occurred in a League match since Round 22, 1981 — when Collingwood 4.9 v Fitzroy 8.11 match, saw 12 single goalkickers.

The record is 15 — the Essendon 8.13 v Fitzroy 7.8 match of Round 15, 1908 contained 15 single goalkickers.

Here's one on a personal level.

It's one I posted in another thread.

In 1991, the year I was born, there were 10 100 point wins.
In 2011, the year I turned 20, there were also 10 100 point wins.
I wonder if lightning can strike thrice when I'm 40 in 2031.
Personal level, in the year I (2010) and my father (1977) had turned 18, Collingwood played in a drawn grand final. :thumbsu:

I'm assuming West Coast won't improve their percentage today and Essendon will remain on top.

Either way, Essendon should be on top next round if not the round after when West Coast have the bye.

The last 7 times Essendon has been on top at Round 9 or later, they have made the preliminary final at worst: 2001, 2000, 1999, 1993, 1990, 1985, 1984

I'm sure these have been covered off before , but just putting them here incase anyone hasn't updated their own records.

I'm now slowly getting started again on my attempt to complete an entire chronology of Australian football from day one.

Investigating some 1897 discrepancies and sending them off to Col, the below have been amended.

The 1897 amended team scores are:
Round Six - (G v Fi) Fitz final score 2.3 (NOT 2.2) - scoreboard error in Q4
Round Six - (SM v E) SM final score 2.4 (NOT 2.3) - scoreboard error in Q4
Round Seven - (Ca v Co) Final scores Ca 5.5 (NOT 5.6) v Co 6.5 (NOT 6.4) - scoreboard error in Q2 (a behind was credited to the wrong team)
Round 13 - (Ca v St K) St K final score 3.7 (NOT 3.8) - scoreboard error in Q4

With Adelaide losing, missed opportunity to break that record. Only in 1936 did 3 teams go on to 9-1 or better. Essendon and West Coast will favourites to equal the 10-1 record:

Would love to see Ken Farmer's similar stat.

For the WAFL, the best is Bernie Naylor's 485.
