Amazing that Geelong, a side that has finished bottom just five times is on this inglorious list on four occasions. Admittedly 1918-1919 and also 1941 (but then 1944 and 1945, Geelong were in recess in 1942-43) it was wartime but that is quite a few seasons of terrible starts.
Geelong in 1971 and 1972 despite being 1-10 twice, managed to win 5 games in 1971 (their last season of fewer than 6 wins) and were 7-15 in 1972. Geelong actually won 7 of their last 12 games that year after starting 0-10.
Geelong's worst start to a season since 1973 when they were 2-9, was a 3-8 start in 2003. Every year from 1974 onwards bar 2003 it's been 4-7 or better.
