Many Big Footy stats lovers will probably be aware that there has only been one round wherein all teams kicked 100 points, that being Round 10, 1982. At three quarter time in that round, Footscray were sitting on 9.8 (62) versus North Melbourne, trailing by 66 points. Whilst North managed more scoring shots during the final quarter, the Bulldogs managed to find enough spirit to score 6.2, this being just enough to get them to a score of 100 exactly.
At the end of Round 22 that season, all 12 teams had both kicked and conceded 2000 points, the only time this has happened. Geelong were the only team not to have posted 2000 points at the start of the round, but had comfortably achieved this by half time in their game against Collingwood.
Essendon and Carlton were the only teams who had not conceded 2000 prior to thecommencement of the round. Essendon had 1995, and so this was quickly extended beyond 2000 during the first quarter. Carlton had conceded 1897 points, and at three quarter time, their opponent, Fitzroy, had brought Carlton's Against total to 1976. Carlton were looking to secure a double chance in the old Final Five, and led by 32 at the final break. Fitzroy signed off their 1982 campaign with enough gusto to kick 5.2 to 6.3 in the final quarter, Carlton thus finishing with 2008 points against.
All teams had previously scored 2000 points in 1978, but only North Melbourne (1991 points) and Carlton (1994 points) did not conceded 2000 points, though obviously did so during the finals.
All teams again conceded 2000 points in 1983, with only ninth placed Geelong (1932 points) not scoring 2000.
Every team has conceded 2000 points in a season, including finals, in 1978, 1979, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1990 and 1992.
All teams came close to conceding 2000 points, including finals, in 2000, with the dominant Essendon team just holding out, having conceded 1998 at the end of the grand final.
