Hi Mr Rogers, given that 123.33% is higher than 123.18%, does that mean St Kilda now holds the all-time record for a team missing the finals?

@RogersResults Some corrections to The "Minor" Premiership article on The Myth of the "Minor Premiers":

To paraphrase Bill Clinton - It's the finals, stupid!

Hawthorn with 2679 points is the highest scoring team in a H&A season since Essendon scored 2816 in 2000. They just pipped Geelong's 2672 in 2008. No other team in that time has gone above 2600

Reading through some old Footy Records and came across the following in the Round 3, 1913 edition.

"Bill Walker, the Fitzroy captain, was unable to get away from work on Saturday to lead his men against St.Kilda."

Club balance sheets often had entries for payments to players of compensation for forfeited wages in taking off time from work to play or train. Good relations and accommodations with players' employers and their football clubs may have had significant influence on a club's success. The introduction of the 40 hour working week from the end of the 1940's began to make it easier for players to juggle work commitments and playing football.

Must be a sign of being old....But i recall a North fan student in Year 10 in 1983 having a little dig by saying 'Go North' to teacher Gary Malarkey after Fairley and co smashed Geelong by 40 points at K.P. Promptly told to pipe down by another teacher in earshot mind you. Could hardly imagine a teacher playing footy now, but professionalism has changed so much in this 30 year period.

Most losses by 90+ points in first 44 games coached:

Even accepting that Gold Coast is a bit of a special case, things don't bode well for McKenna.

Just needed to make this observation.

2009 Finals
Collingwood finish 4th. Loses to top team by a number ending with eight. (28)
Adelaide finishes 5th. Beats 8th placed team by 96 points.
Adelaide get four goals up on the Pies during the semi final at the MCG played on a Saturday night.
Collingwood comes back.
Wins. (and we all know what happened after that - "RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME")
