Richmond are 12th with just 3 games to go. Surely they can't make the Final Eight?
Or can they emulate the 1995 Brisbane side? With 3 rounds to go, Brisbane faced a good opponent (top 4) yet managed a fabulous win. This weekend, Richmond also face a good opponent (AD, away) who most would expect to win. Can Richmond get over this 1st hurdle?
In the final round in 1995, Brisbane had a must-win game against a side in the 8 who had beaten them earlier in the season. This year, in the last round, Richmond too will have a must-win game against a side in the 8 who has beaten them earlier in the season.
I'm sure many people will be hoping for a Richmond victory this weekend.| | R12 | R17 | 3 rounds to go | finish
\ Brisbane | 1995 | 13th | 12th | 12th | 8th
\ Richmond | 2014 | 13th | 12th | 12th | ???
Just noticed Hawthorn's total For v Against score in HA games tipped into the positive for the first time ever last weekend.
Tonight, Mick Malthouse will break the record for most H&A games as coach:
On a related note, Richmond has closed to within 61 points of getting back into the black.
Lenny has had a disappointing couple of weeks with 4 tackles in each of the last two weeks.Lenny Hayes is on target to end his career with more tackles than any other player in history. He needs 21 more with 4 games to go and is averaging 6.6 per game this year. Only once this year has he had less than 5 tackles.

I think this is right. We know that Brisbane in 1995 made the finals with a 10-12 record.
They are also the only 4-11 / 5-11 / 6-11 / 7-11 / 7-12 / 8-12 / 9-12 side to ever make the finals.
However, if Richmond make the finals this year, they will be the first 3-10 side to do so.
