I want to narrow down these numbers.

I love stats. Can't get enough of them. However in the AFL, the team, venue and time during the year impact stats so ridiculously that it is frustrating!

Hawthorn's win today was their fourth grand final victory by 50 points or more (1983, 1988, 1991, 2014). This equals Melbourne's feat in 1926, 1939, 1956 and 1957. Only Essendon have done it five times (1942, 1946, 1949, 1985 and 2000).

On Saturday the Hawks set a new all-time record for highest minimum score across a season including finals.

Their minimum score of 86 (scored in their loss to Port in Rd 10) was the highest ever.

The next best is 84 by Melbourne in 1941 and Geelong in 1993.

Considering across the league we had the lowest scoring home and away season since 1968, that is incredible.

Also the home and away season average score was 86.55 - so all games bar one Hawthorn exceeded the average.

Listed here is the complete list of the order clubs finished in the Dr W.C. McClelland Aggregate Points Trophy from its origin in 1951 through to 1990, during which time it was judged on points awarded for performances in seniors, reserves and under 19 grades. Since 1991 it has of course been judged solely on performance at senior level. Hawthorn and Carlton have been awarded equal first position for 1985.

Their aggregate of 1183 games is thus a record between two coaches who coached against each other. Sheedy and Malthouse are the only two coaches to have coached against each other with more than 500 games each. They both previously had 500 games when they coached against each other in round 5, 2007; round 19, 2006; round 4, 2006; and in round 16, 2005.
In round 5 of 2005 when Collingwood and Essendon met in their annual Anzac Day game, it was Malthouse's 499th game.
Another close instance was during the qualifying final of 1987 between Hawthorn and Sydney when Allan Jeans was coaching his 503rd game and Tom Hafey coached his 499th.
