If you mean - led at any time during the last quarter - you'll have to compile your own from here: http://stats.rleague.com/afl/seas/season_idx.htmlanybody able to get a list of teams and totals on who have lost when they've led in the final quarter of the match for past 5 or so years?
A group of Fred Fannings once kicked 18 in a day! With one Tom Lynch kicking 10 goals a couple of weeks ago, and another Tom Lynch kicking 2 only a couple of hours later, I was wondering how many other instances have there been of more than one player with the same name kicking goals in the same round/on the same day, and what the highest combined total would be (i.e. has the Tom Lynch total of 12 been bettered?)
Maybe Nathan Brown? - there were three of them playing at one point, and one at least was a handy goalkicker.

List is as accurate as I can make it without spending hours to ensure it's definitive:

Can anybody provide the stats for the most 'contested possessions' in a single game by a single player, or say a top 10/20?
Heh, I've done the opposite, can't see any you've missed. Of course, all the Teds, Eds, Teddys, Edwards and Eddy-babies would also take me a few tedious hours of homework to untangle. My database isn't set up to do this query. I've gone out of my way to avoid recording different players under the same name!

Actually, I just noticed you included noughts, so Don McKenzie 8 & 0 on 5/8/1967.
Has anyone got any info on how Adelaide's effort on the weekend ranks on an all-time list for 'shortest time in front when going on to win'?
I believe they were ahead for less than a minute of actual game time and in fact trailed from the second minute of the game till that point.
I was explaining the 'score worm' for this game to my son the other day (he's six, and rapidly developing a keen interest in the stats surrounding footy) and was struck by how 'unique' it appeared to be.
For example, is there a game on record where the team that won the game never led during the actual game time? Where a goal/point kicked after the siren delivered the win to a team that had never been in front before?
Thanks,
S.
If the answer can't be extracted from a database, below is a list of the possible candidates - winners that trailed at the first three quarter breaks and won by 1 to 6 points.Has anyone got any info on how Adelaide's effort on the weekend ranks on an all-time list for 'shortest time in front when going on to win'?

Also, related to this, how long has the contested possession stat been recorded?
Cheers.
EDIT: Just found out on my own forum regarding start of CP stats (=1999).
I have the figures mentioned by RR, but it's a bit of pain trying to work with them. But the two closest approaches I could see by taking shortcuts are here:Has anyone got any info on how Adelaide's effort on the weekend ranks on an all-time list for 'shortest time in front when going on to win'?
Since 2008anybody able to get a list of teams and totals on who have lost when they've led in the final quarter of the match for past 5 or so years?
barry hall kick after siren in 2001
http://newsstore.fairfax.com.au/app...t+monday&clsPage=1&docID=SAG010902Q2S3T5K92IAThanks, Bel. Great get there.
Just checked the info on that game (Rd 22 Haw v StK) on the stats.rleague.com site.
So Hall kicked a goal after the siren to win it?
Does anyone know where there might be match reports on this game available online?
Amazing result in any case...

Didn't do the laborious work of manually checking pre-2008

not sure how valuable that table is TBH as the definition of CP has changed since 1999.
Great work, SJ.
Love this stellar moment of understatement in the midst of the match report...
'Barry Hall's fourth goal, kicked after the final siren, completed as unlikely a victory as 2001 has produced.'
In the absence of evidence to the contrary, it could be, by one measure at least, as unlikely a victory as the entire history of the game has produced.![]()
