After round 1, Gold Coast had the smallest total in the Points For column, and again have achieved this after round 3. Would it be correct to assume this is the first time Gold Coast have held this statistical honour?
You do mean smallest total in the Points Against column, don't you?! If so, prior to this year they had never achieved that (not even after Rd. 2 of 2011 when they had played one game less than the rest of the competition - except Adelaide).

Yes I should have written Against instead of For. Thanks for your prompt and accurate answer.

Has there been a year where every team was 1-1 after round 2?
Never as far as I can see. The most was in 1998 where 12 of the 16 teams were at 1-1 with only Western Bulldogs and Sydney (2-0) and Brisbane and Hawthorn (0-2) ruining the 1-1 parade.
1900 is another year worth mentioning, as 6 of 8 clubs had a 1-1 record after round 2.

Anyone got the avg age and games played of each teams 22 for this weekend?

Bit late...

Is there somewhere you can look at player ages in detail?

for example, if I wanted to know how many 34 year olds are still playing and who those players are, where you could you find that info?

Have attempted to attach an Excel spreadsheet containing current players' ages. The calculation reflects the current date. Ages are formatted as e.g. 24.72, but you can muck around with the formatting to break it down into years & days, years months & days, etc.

Daniel Talia plays his 150th tonight . Does anyone have stats on how many Goals Kicked On he has been credited with , and if so , how many 3+ games?

Ah, Talia. Yes, ..of the old school.. when players had positions and defenders were allowed to be defensive and didn't have to deal with scrutiny about how many "metres gained" or how many disposals they had in a match, or the skewed "deliberate out of bounds" rule.

Not fair, in my opinion, that he has received Brownlow votes in only three of his games up to end of 2017.

Carlton currently haven't scored 100 points in any of their last 36 matches.

When was the last time a side had a longer streak of matches without scoring 100 points in an individual game?

I know it hasn’t been since 1970, because the only teams before Carlton to go a season without scoring a century (North Melbourne 1972 and Melbourne 2014) both scored 100 points in games late in the previous season and early in the following one.

My guess is you have to go back to Fitzroy, who went 47 games without cracking the ton between Round 17, 1962 and Round 9, 1965. They went 3-44 in that stretch.

Fitzroy was an atrocious team battling through some very wet winters on grounds with little or no drainage. They’re not excuses Carlton can claim.

Footscray went 78 matches from R5 1964 to R10 1968.

Carlton's is only the eighth such streak since Hawthorn 1933-35.

Great work. What are the others?

Fitzroy 1962 R17 - 1965 R9 as you mentioned (47 matches)
North Melbourne 1960 R16 - 1964 R2 (59)
Fitzroy 1951 R12 - 1955 R8 (72) (played two finals in 1952)
St.Kilda 1951 R7 - 1956 R11 (96)
Hawthorn 1948 R7 - 1950 R9 (41)
St.Kilda 1947 R4 - 1949 R12 (47)
Hawthorn 1933 R8 - 1935 R11 (40)

St.Kilda has the record, not reaching 100 until its 173rd VFL match in 1907 R6. University never reached 100 in its 126 matches. Carlton was also a slow starter, first cracking the ton in its 134th VFL match.

Carlton and St Kilda (assuming no late changes) will both have numbers 1-9 running around. For Carlton it’s the first time since 2007, for the Saints it’s the second time since 2003.

Is this similar for other teams?

What is the highest consecutive numbers 1 thru x that have played together in one game?

What is the greatest two-game combined winning margin for any one team in history? I know the Cats won by 336 in rounds 19 and 20, 2011 (186 and 150 points respectively), but has anyone beaten that?

Not a chance that isn't a record.

Sydney in rounds 16 and 17 of 1987 recorded consecutive 130 and 146 point victories.

Occasions where more than one player has outscored the opposition in any given round?

Ben Brown and Dustin Martin both outscored their opponents this round. Have there been many instances of three players or more outscoring the opposition in the same round?

This certainly isn't (likely to be) a "complete" answer, but Rd. 23 2017 probably qualifies. Lance Franklin (Sydney) scored 10.2 (62) vs Carlton 8.9 (57), while Port Adelaide's Sam Gray 6.3 (39) and Charlie Dixon 4.1 (25) both outscored Gold Coast 3.2 (20).

This is very easy to check manually given both those margins are in the top 20 of all time: https://afltables.com/afl/stats/biglists/bg5.txt

The uniqueness of North's 150-point smashing at the hands of the Lions yet finishing top in 1983 will take some matching.

And Essendon just 14 months after their 160 point hiding at the hands of the Hawks on 1/8/92 were holding up the Cup!!
