Okay, let me explain. This week sees 1st (Richmond) playing 2nd (West Coast) in a 'top of the table' clash.
As was identified in Ron's answer, there have been seven seasons in which, due to quirks in the draw and ladder positions, there has NOT been a 'top of the table' clash during the home and away season.
This is what I was asking, whether there had been any seasons in which this had occurred.

In 2007 Port Adelaide scored 153, 155, and 163 in their matches from rd. 15-17.

That's the most recent case I can see, but I've only gone through it "manually", so can't absolutely promise that it's the answer!
