How many clubs have had the Brownlow Medalist and Coleman Medalist / Leading Goalkicker in the same year (like if Cotch and Jack do the double)? And if so, what was the final H&A position of that side?

If Mick Malthouse coaches Carlton, he will have been involved at Richmond, Collingwood and Carlton.

1. How many other people have represented at least 3 of the "Big 4"?
2. Same question, but add Hawthorn and Geelong for a "Big 6"?

Talk about Trent Cotchin being a potential Brownlow winner highlights the fact that Richmond currently have the longest Brownlow drought, stretching back to 1971 over 41 complete seasons if he doesn't win this year. It got me thinking what the records are for the longest Brownlow droughts and whether there is a way to determine this. In one respect you could say Hawthorn hold the record from 1924 to 1986 (with four war affected years), as DiPierdomenico was actually the club's first recipient in 1986. Reading the record books, the drought reads from 1924 to 1949 with Col Austen's retrospective win lessening the gap to 25 seasons. But Austen did not actually receive the award until 1989 when the restrospectives were handed out, three years after Dipper won his. Is there a definitive way in which we can state what are the longest Brownlow droughts?

I have a stupid question. I have been following the game from the states for a couple of years. I am wondering what is a disposal?

Are there any available records on who has been designated substitute for games?
I'm looking for the historical records, not the notifications of who has just been declared sub for the current round.
I can't find any reference to a player being used as a sub in various stats pages. Any ideas? Thanks.

I had a request to do this, which I passed on. But.. the AFL site's match reports for this year detail subs, but it looks as though they didn't last year. So if anyone has an online source of 2011 subs, point it out, and I might give it a go. The information may be lost (at least for us regular folk). as the AFL site has a habit of discarding previous season's material.

m0nty may be able to help.

Perhaps people have kept their own team's info?

I have Hawthorn's 2011:

Jack Darling will be 20 years, 88 days this Sunday when he plays the Kangaroos.

If he kicks 3 goals, he'll get to 50 for the season.

I know Chris Grant kicked 50 as a 17 year old in 1990, and there's probably been a few young'uns since then who've got to 50, but when was the last time someone so young kicked 50 in a year?? Looks like Franklin was 20y 179d in 2007 when he got to 50 for the first time.

Looks like I've answered my own question (thought probably not comprehensively):

Darling looks to be the youngest to reach 50 in a season since Lance Whitnall in 1999, who was 20y 19d when he kicked his 50th goal.

Matthew Richardson, John Longmire, Saverio Rocca and Matthew Lloyd were younger than 20 when they kicked their first bag of 50 goals.

1. Essendon went 8-3 for the first half of the season then 3-8 for the second half, for a -5 differential (WCE in 2000 were -5.5). For all 20 or 22 game seasons, what are the best and worst differentials?

2. How many Victorian teams have made a Grand Final having played a final outside Victoria?

3. What is the record for most career goals yet having never kicked 2 or more goals in a game?
