Re: Post your stats questions here

Go here

Select the game, 'Player Stats', 'Q4'. I don't have them neatly compiled, sorry.

Thanks for that.

On your top ten scores and margin, I always thought Geelong beat Brisbane by the greatest margin or kicked the greatest score. Am I blind or making stuff up?

Edit: Just realised the lists provided were for the margin. Can anyone confirm the highest score in a game and the margin? Thanks heaps.

Re: Post your stats questions here

Football stats needed the introduction of Gold Coast and GWS :p

Haha - thought the same thing this morning. Sure, the new clubs might not win games, but there's going to be some great record-breaking.

It may not have been to the extent of what the Gold Coast are going through, but people should remember that being in your first season isn't easy.

The WCE copped a 130-point belting from the Swans when they were in their three-week 30 goal streak, and the Crows copped massive beltings on the road vs Collingwood and St Kilda.

Re: Post your stats questions here

^^ Essendon were less than two years on from winning back-to-back flags, that didn't stop us from losing to the Swans by 163 points :(

I actually remember watching that game at my Grandmother's house. Couldn't believe that a team could score so much!

Re: Post your stats questions here

Yeah I was getting mighty pissed off, I started barracking for the Swans.

Re: Post your stats questions here

Is Corey Enright the only player ever to win a best and fairest in a premiership year but yet not poll a Brownlow vote?

George 'Jocka' Todd for Geelong in 1931 is another one.

Unless someone has all the best and fairests on a database along with the Brownlow votes if you want to find any more you'll need the AFL Record Season Guide in one hand (for club best and fairst) and http://stats.rleague.com/afl/brownlow/brownlow_idx.html on the 'puter.

ESSENDON'S ageless warhorse Dustin Fletcher seems certain to return from injury for Sunday's Etihad Stadium clash against West Coast. Fletcher, who turns 36 tomorrow, needs only to get through today training session as expected to get the all-clear to line up for his 333rd appearance for the Bombers.

To date, has Dustin Fletcher played 332 or 333 games? Is the HUN right or wrong?

Harry Collier (Co) 1928 (one Brownlow vote awarded per game)
George Todd (Ge) 1931
Geoff Raines (Ri) 1980
Gary Ayres (Ha) 1986
Brett Ratten (Ca) 1995
Corey Enright (Ge) 2009

Re: Post your stats questions here

Hopefully I got them all. The players that have played 40 games against another team:

46 - Kevin Bartlett v Carlton
42 - Michael Tuck v North Melbourne; Michael Tuck v Carlton; Leigh Matthews v North Melbourne
41 - Bruce Doull v Richmond
40 - Kevin Bartlett v North Melbourne; Kelvin Moore v North Melbourne

Re: Post your stats questions here

Based upon the above, would it be safe to assume that the two opposing players who faced one another on the most occasions was Bartlett v Doull?

Who are the other top combos?

Re: Post your stats questions here

When the Gold Coast Suns were given a 139-point thrashing by Essendon last week, was this margin a record loss for a team that has won its preceeding and following games?

The largest example I can find was Fitzroy in 1991, who were given a 126- point hiding by Hawthorn in Round 21, this game falling between the Lions' 59-point demolition of Richmond at the MCG in Round 20 (angry Tiger fans staged a noisy demonstration against coach Kevin Bartlett at half time, and again after the game); and a high scoring 1-point win over North Melbourne in Round 22, a game which would cost the Kangaroos a place in the 1991 finals series.

Re: Post your stats questions here

North won 6 games, lost by 150, then won the next 4 in 1983. There's 19 other instances of 100+, the GC's the next highest.

Incidentally, Essendon's 165 pt win over SM in R18, 1964 is the best win between losses.

Re: Post your stats questions here

4 guys kicked 4 goals without a behind in freo-richmond games yesterday. nahas, cotchin, riewoldt and kepler. in fact they all kicked exactly 4.0.

what's the record for most amount of guys kicking 4+ goals with no behinds in a single match. i'd imagine this wouldn't be far off...

behinds have only been recorded since the mid 70's i think??
