With the result yesterday, the last 50 games between Geelong and Richmond have gone 42 to 8 in Geelong's favour.

How many 50 game blocks in any head to head are more lopsided than that?

There can't be many. I know Collingwood led Hawthorn 57 to 3 at one point, so that'd be one. But how many others are there?

Coming into this round, Port and Collingwood's win loss record against each other was 14-14. Essendon and Adelaide's win-loss record against each other was 18-18, and West Coast and Carlton's was 21-21. I realise it's a possibility nobody keeps stats on this, but does anybody know whether there have been other instances of three lots of teams having even win-loss records against each other prior to a round beginning? I suspect back in the early days of the competition it was probably common, so how about if the minimum wins-losses is set at 10 apiece?

The ascendency of Gary Sr and his long bomb to win that Rd 10 game at the 'G in '84 started what is now a kind of tidal wave of Cat ascendency. Mind you the Tigers have now lost five recent games by 14 points or less, so they are banging at the door.

Essendon against St.Kilda in a similar time frame would be pretty significant too wouldn't it, as the Bombers even managed to knock over the Saints in their brilliant '09-10 incarnation too didn't they?

I feel like that would be a difficult stat to look up

Since I've supported st Kilda we've won about ten games.
 
Can anyone guess - what happened for the first time in the VFL in 1961, happened again 3 times that year, a further 12 times in the 1960s, and then only once more in the VFL - that coming in 1989.

It has happened numerous times in the AFL in the 90s, 00s & 10s, but only those 17 times in the VFL.

The last time it happened was today.

I agree. Especially with scoring. I love scoring stats.

From when this stuff is available (2008 onwards I think?) how's that compare record-wise?

Yeah I thought so in both cases. I looked at both games to try and figure it out - nothing to do with marks, free kicks or disposals. And you said not scoring either.

Not a stats question, but SEN were discussing a 30-game player yesterday morning and saying that his numbers are elite, that he is a superstar in the making. But I didn't catch the name. Who were they referring to?

EDIT: I'm watching On the Couch. Could it be Melbourne's Angus Brayshaw?

It was only Brayshaw's first game back yesterday though. Clayton Oliver would be my guess not having listened to it.

Well, it's knowledge of history more than anything (or lack of it as some may describe it...) to key you in more fully - the game in Round 18 last year was Western Bulldogs v St. Kilda...

Does that give it away yet?
