any stats this week Miss Vanessa ?
Tonight. Apologies, am actually studying part time and had an essay due today. So no time last night. Plus, I couldn't inflict more pain on myself and spend time reflecting on Saturday night. It still hurts. Will push through and get them up tonight though. A brief look at the stats suggests a lot of people were down on season averages.

no rush... do what you got to do first...the stats can wait

A little something for our mate Kingy ...

It is ridiculous to compare the for and against / defence vs offence this early in the season. We have beaten the averages against every team we have played except the Hawks. Can't wait to get to the bye so we can all look at the ladder with a bit of perspective.

A couple of interesting things after a third of the season is done and dusted:

Not counting the North game, in which I don't have the breakdown of hitouts to advantage, Jenkins ruck work is near identical in terms of effectiveness to Jacobs:

Sam Jacobs Hitouts (to adv.): 201 (51) = 25% hitouts to adv.
Josh Jenkins Hitouts (to adv.): 30 (7) = 23% hitouts to adv.

Unsurprisingly, most of our scoring has come from turnovers and the opposition has scored more heavily from stoppages than we have:

Adelaide
Turnovers: 69 points per game
Stoppages: 37 points per game
Kickins: 7 points per game

Opposition
Turnovers: 50 points per game
Stoppages: 41 points per game
Kickins: 7 points per game

Intercept marks and intercepts ?

Great work by the way much appreciated
Intercept marks - marks from opposition kicks.
Intercepts - I believe it's the number of intercept possessions a player has ie. number of possessions resulting directly from opposition disposals... Though not 100% on that.

I'm pretty sure it's not spoils, which would be a nice stat to have, but don't have access to.

Haha yeah I know but couldn't see them in the list above

Crows 241 (58) = 24%
Oppo 257 (65) = 25%

no real advantage at all is there... i wonder if this is a league wide standard...?

with the pill in dispute 50% of the time the contested possies in the guts are where the clearance advantage is made?

cont disp v bulldogs.png

the doggies mids blitzed ours in that stat... absolutely demolished us!

Contested Disposal? I don't think that stat site realises possessions and disposals are different stats.

This is an interesting angle to take on stats. Thanks for highlighting it.

Free Kicks skew Contested Disposals

The Bont won 16 of his CP. Where as Libba won 10 and was handed 5 free kicks. Dollhouse won 10 and got 3 frees.

The Bont was clearly ahead of anybody on the field but then they drop away quickly.

Lynch won 12, Rory 11, and Tex 10 subtracting frees.

This is why we need to see the "ground ball" stats to see who is actually getting the ball away from the contest. I don't count burrowing your head into a tackle a CP. Eventually you'll break your neck.

Where's Henderson for round 7.
Bugger. Keep forgetting to add the newbies. Will add properly next week, but for now:

Metres Gained = 542m
Intercepts = 2
Intercept Marks = 0
Pressure Acts = 8
Score Involvements = 1

Meters gained very good, pressure acts average but the other 3 stats not great for the role he played.

Metres gained 542m!? That's pretty impressive, bloody hell.

Thanks Miss V - this is a great thread with some great stats and analysis - send it to the Don - he likes this sort of stuff and might find it useful. :thumbsu:
