Not surprised since they are owned by the same people.

Agree, great steaks.

BTW, anyone having a decent steak cooked above medium-rare is missing out.

I take everyplace back that I have ever recommended for steaks, they are all crap.

I have now had a steak at Rockpool in Melbourne.

Had one at the bended elbow the other night, god it was $hite.

Yeah my house mate has no idea, i refused to go out there with him and said i would go somewhere else, as he thinks they are good......last time i ordered a rare steak and got it past well

Heard they are very good but not been there yet.

Outback Jacks are great!! ;)

Bluefire at pier 35 has some good steaks, well it did last time I went there. Red Hill Estate does the best eye fillet I've had.

For me I mostly like to buy & cook my own steak that way I have it cooked exactly how I want it every time. Got a great butcher in Newport I get my meat from.

Outback Jacks are by far the worst Steaks going around terrible that place is a joke

Had the best steak of my life (or at worst 2nd best) a little over 4 weeks ago at a place in Hong Kong. I thought it was called 'Star cafe' but google isn't quite agreeing with me. All the food was great but the steak was un****ingbelievable.

I'm super pissed that it's like 9 and a half hours away :(.

Best steak I've had this year was in Barham. Wasn't the best quality wise, though was very hungry and for $22 or so I got a t-bone (usually buy rib eye) which would have been approx 750 grams w/chips & pepper sauce. Washed down with a litre of beer.

Worst- Went to "Rare" on Little Collins St, Melb about 5 months ago. Had the entree which was a steak tartare, was excellent, but the main I had the scotch fillet, was the worst restaurant steak I have ever eaten, was kinda stringy like elastic, was under cooked, had to chew each piece for 5 mins, just horrible.

Best- "The Point", Albert Park, Melb- wowee what can you say, the ambience is one thing, which this place is excellent, but have been twice and got the scotch fillet and is bloody amazing, just melts in your mouth. It's more of a special occasion place, but well worth it.

Another vote for Squires Loft / Parkers from me. Pork Ribs and fried Onions are also good there.

On a related note - anyone know the best places to buy steak in Melbourne to cook yourself? I'm really starting to perfect the method outlined here and am looking to buy a roll of eye fillet or similar at a decent price.

Got two defrosting at the moment. Tossing up whether I make a pepper sauce to go with them.

Did you make the pepper sauce?

Oh the suspense.
