You know what, I wasn't all the way there. I had my suspicions, because I have eyes.

Have heard a few things tonight, now I am all the way in.

See you in the sack Ross Lyon thread by round 4 next year.
FWIW
I agree with a lot of your sentiments.

I think he tries to play new age but the moment things turn to crap he turns back to old habits which just don't work in todays game.

We don't really, same issues keep popping up. If we bring the effort and the oppo are weak enough we can look ok.
if we're still as shit next year ill get out the pitchfork, but right now given our list profile im giving ross a pass. The most important thing to me at this stage of the build is our player development, which has been pretty good overall, Nas, Pou, Hall, Garcia, Boxshall, Windy, Higgins keeps getting better, and now we have Tauru and Dodson looking the goods too. That to me is the most important thing at the stage of the build. How was our development under Watters, Richo, and Ratten? Pretty bloody shit

Time to launch our secret weapon.
The AFL will be spellbound..when....
they see Cordie and Dougal in the forward line nest week.
Finally, Coops can be that free ranging 3rd forward that Bailey Fritch dreamed about being.

The real problem with this side at the moment is just lack of height.

Tallest players playing today:

Heath 204cm (unable to have much impact then subbed off)
Marshall 200cm (solid game)
Caminiti 196cm (decent defensive game again)
Sharman 194cm (tough day for a 2nd/3rd tall forward asked to play on his own down there)
Tauru 193cm (solid 8th game, continues to show great signs)
Wood 192cm (never quite plays his height but would have been a matchwinner if he'd just kicked a couple of his shots)
Wilkie 191cm (champion)
Phillipou 190cm (playing in the wrong role and underdone)

Compare that to Richmond:

Nankervis 199cm
Lynch 199cm
Miller 198cm
Young 196cm
Armstrong 195cm
Balta 194cm
Brown 193cm
Broad 192cm
McIntosh 191cm

More of them, more experienced and bigger bodied generally.

So we went -4 on contested marks, which is very close to our average for the year of -3.7 contested marks per game (ranked dead last in the comp).

Add back Max King, TDK, Howard/Aleer next year and I reckon the side gets beaten in the air a lot less.

I didn't watch todays game, but it sounds similar to the Carlton game except we managed to actually score in the last quarter. I'm more optimistic than most because I have seen some really encouraging signs from the way we've played this year that has been spoiled by our lack of height.

I doubt there's another team in the comp who's tallest regular forward is 193cm, and Sharman is much more suited to a 3rd tall kind of role. He's had a good season considering what he's had to deal with. It's why I have done a 180 and now hope we keep Marshall. I fall into the trap of assuming every player is going to be fit and firing round one, but it never works out this way. TDK has had a good run at it but has had injury concerns. Marshall is a very capable forward and will still get plenty of ruck time if the sub rule is ending.

Losing Battle was always going to be tough, but it was made so much tougher with our two tallest non ruck players in King and Howard missing basically all of this year. Adding TDK and Aleer and King to our 22 while retaining Marshall is my dream scenario.

Ok glad it wasn't just me. That game was really bad. I missed the 1st quarter and saw this one live. Skills were horrendous. We should have a strategy of a player leading directly behind another player as we put it over their heads that often. Even Sincs is missing kicks

Going to this game was hard work. No parking at the G. my mate had an injury which is why we drove and no parking so then needed to find a parking garage and walk missing the 1st quarter. How can you host a football game with no parking?

I missed the 1st quarter and most of the 2nd, thought it was a strange decision to sub off Heath we had no height.in the forward line and were then forced to play Pou deep forward who probably had the same impact as Heath. I see from the stats Heath wasn't getting near it but Henry only got 4 disposals in a half as well

Good to see a few supporters are finally beginning to apply a little bit of blowtorch to rtb. He’s come away mostly unscathed from a woeful season for the club. I can imagine the highlights packages at the presentation will be quite dour and awkward to watch until the miracle game when the crowd will all go off.
He’s quite safe though for now. Haven’t heard one single criticism from the afl media yet so all good.

He's been badly hamstrung by player availability and fixture. Early in the year we had some excellent games but (imo) the tough fixture cooked the group as the rest of the season has been a grind. We'll probably finish around 11th unfortunately, but it's probably a correct representation of where we should be. With the key injuries we've sustained and the youth policy at work it's a pass mark from me, albeit another year of disappointment.

Pretty ordinary situation if Lyon can't get his team up and firing against lesser opposition..no excuse for the WCE loss, or the lifeless three quarters against Melbourne, regardless of the freak last quarter, then scratching home against North, and yesterday's game looking more like a country social game rather than two AFL teams on a perfect day at the MCG. I reckon Hastie would have pulled in a couple of marks in the forward line compared to the unfit stationary Pou.

Hastie would have been as useless as Pou was if he was standing at full forward on two bigger defenders.

I would include Ross 1 as well in the poor player development and recruiting too. Ross 2 is not going to fix this shit overnight. I like what i see from the players coming through so happy to see Ross 2 continue on indefinitely.

They flooded back.

Imagine it how you like. But that doesn’t mean there are just free players uncontested every time. We didn’t just decide to pull up and go slow once in good position forward of the centre to give Richmond a chance.

Did we miss some? Yes.

But we simply lacked a genuine tall forward. Hence wasting Pou as a pseudo tall today. (Which was utterly horrible)
Stav, I think you of all posters telling others on here that they’re imagining things is a bit rich in the midst of getting OTP about personnel issues (yet again). It’s a bit Freudian at its best.

Yet nearly every man and their dog had us finishing bottom 4.
Anyone who thinks RTB won't see out his contract have absolutely no idea

Its been a developing year of blooding kids and getting games into 2nd to 4th year players and we had a shocking run of injuries early on as well

Tigers showed yesterday ..... and they have done in a quite a few games this year .... that if you bring energy/effort/manic pressure you can stay in games and be competitive

Another big pre-season and our younger players will be all the better for it .... re: draft .... I would be looking to add more speed and players that can kick .... though we might only have 3 live picks
