Beamer is going to be a very very good player for us but with Steele i ll go one step further . He is going to be an eite playear !!! . Was very impressed with his poise on friday night , everything he did had Class stamped all over it ! Expect him to play most of the season . Exciting times ahead of us ,me thinks

It is such a shame to see a true blue Carlton supporter with so much talent like Beamsy go to the Pies. Count yourselves lucky you picked him up cause he will be a star.

Beams was an Essendon supporter I think.

Scott Russell, oh man, how underrated was he. Just a super player.

And little man, loved him. Funny thing about Tony Francis, they use to can him for running into ball ups from the goal side (away from goal) then kicking from the ball from the defensive side of the pack. These days that'd all love him for that. Revolutionary!

Sidebottom has talent also, but is an outside player and they are a dime a dozen.

The only reason Sidebottom was drafted so early was his TAC GF game...which was a super effort, but it wasn't a good indication of how he normally plays

Collingwood did the same with Thomas. However, Thomas has X factor which is important.

they are exactly what we needed, like another poster said, just looking at our scoring effectiancy is sweet, accuracy across all lines, things are starting to gel and 2010 and beyond i believe we will be an unstoppable machine...

once beams, sidebottom, swan, pendlebury, neon are permanent mids with the backup of didak and thomas, a flag is a definite with the next 3 years, the best part about all this is cartel will be up and about and we will be that damn good they will continue to be the running joke at least until 2015...

i am just looking forward to the next 5 years of watching the side rip open the current comp, our recruiting has been 100% spot on, even Reid and Brown are pure gold.

By that late stage they would have pretty much had their top 20 or so worked out, the TAC Grand final wouldn't have changed much at all.

Steele is not just an outside player he did spend some times in the Guts and Actually got a few Clearances and read the ball from the tap quite well.

The story of him going so high because of his GF perfomance is BS. He was AA at the u-18 Champs and in his 1st Finals game of the Finals Series he won the game from the Bushies

I'd be interested in how you saw Carltons younger group v Geelong.
It was the first time I have seen a few of them and I get the feeling Carlton have drafted a lot of very similar players. I am not having a blatant dig, but they all look like "utilities", all a bit gangly and uncoordinated.

As far as how high he went, or why, in the draft, who gives a toss. I'd be happy we got him a 200. The kid can play out off the box. He may become another McGough or he may become another Judd.
It's really nice he can play now and not in 4 years time , maybe, like 50% of Carltons list.

Mate you got no idea before you make these claims do some research, Sidebottom was the leading contested disposal getter in the Aus Champs last year, hes the furthest thing from a outside player

Sidebottom did get a huge amount of uncontested footy but I don't think that's the way he usually plays. He was played on the wing/hff 90% of the time so didn't get time to show his true playing style.

His ability to find the ball and follow up possesion is fantastic.

Sidebottom dominated the entire finals series from start to finish. He was always going to go top 20 anyways.
