Steele and Beams

It's just an informed opinion people.

For the record, Sidebottom's stock rose immensely given his 10 goal GF performance. Nothing wrong with that, but the Woods have done it with Thomas also. Maybe they value big game performance?

Well with all the blockbuster fatigue we suffer from, the highest average attendances in the AFL I would hate to pick someone that has a tendency go missing in big games.

Why Opti? Do you think all of a sudden she will now be walking down street and everyone will start laughing and saying...hey isn't that DaveyWavey's sister, you know the one we read about on Big Footy.

Mind you, DaveyWavey may just be friends with everyone on here and you all know his sister and thus making me look like an a$$
Do you go around telling randoms who your sister has and has not rooted?

Plus he was suffering groin soreness last year which only cleared up near the end of the season, so when he was fit he dominated
Well, we learn something new everyday...I didn't know about that until now.:thumbsu:

Beams, Sidebottom, McCarthy, Pendlebury = Midfield taken care of for the next 10 years....

Now where do we find ourselves an A grade ruckman and a gun rebounding CHB?

No pace in that midfield though. What are you going to do about that little conundrum?

The short answer is NO (and not just because I don't have one) so you have made a good point........................but if I was on a forum where no one knew me, no one knew my sister, no one can seem my face and thus no-one recognises me.......maybe. Quite possibly if they were famous (not that Scott Russell or Hassle are that famous). I wouldn't sit there and go on and on about it and I wouldn't let the conversation drag on about it but I might make the statement if it was on topic. BUT I would never do it in a face to face situation.

Anyways I do like the look of Steele and Beams and we can only hope they give us the quality service that Scott and Tony did (and apparently DaveyWavey's sister for that matter...:D)

Really love the look of both these kids, great skills, decision making smarts, read the play very well, both seem natural mids, work hard.

Not getting as carried away as some and really don't see tham as in the best 22 just yet but, the pathway could open and either of them could be playing regular senior footy before the year is out. The future certainly looks very promising for both lads and I fully expect them to both go on to become excellent players in the next couple of years.

Conversely, unlike many I am still underwhelmed by Barham and Stanley and think their list positions could be in question at the end of the year without some dramatic improvements, no doubting they both play with very high intensity, throw themselves in and have plenty of courage and desperation but, both lack the class required for mine.

Toovey and Cooky look like battlers but lack polish and Wellingham has skill, good pace but just lacks that little bit of smarts so, I still have some question marks over these three as well -in that they still have a bit to overcome before I'd see them as elite and worthy regulars.

Wood is a real worry and I see Leigh Brown and Corrie as some depth cover at best.

Throw in Davis Didak....hopefully Barham Rounds Dick come on well and you have enough speed to go along with that main core midfield.
Anyone else notice that Beams kicked that super goal on his left? He's predominantly right sided isn't he? He seems to have the same gait as a Simon Black or Lenny Hayes hopefully he can be just as good as either more so Black though.

Didak is pretty slow but you've got it right with the others.

Yes, we all saw it and yes, he is predominantly right sided.

Hopefully he can become as good as Black! That would be freaking unbelievable.

Pretty slow is wrong. He is average paced but his agility is very high. This combined with his awareness and evasiveness means he is able to swoop on a loose ball or a crumb leaving well renowned speedsters in his wake, and it means he will never be run down from behind without getting an effective disposal away.

Understandable but he still is slow over 20 meters.

I'm not usually one to be a doomsdayer but is anyone else worried about the possibility of Gold Coast snapping Beamsy up in the future? I know he knocked them back, but perhaps he did that knowing it would stunt his development as an AFL player and that he'd be able to go back if he wanted to due to GCs drafting concessions and out of contract player picks.

He was asked whether he would go home when we firs drafted him if i remembered correctly and he said something like he is where he is meant to be

If we can get Leon Davis to stay and Didak as well i think we can keep Beams

Lets hope so. There are many clubs I could possibly stomach him going to but a Michael Voss Lions (mind you that means he would still be coaching in 2/3 years...) team. I don't know why but I hate them with more passion than the Scum at Windy Hill these days.

That's what i've been thinking. Captaincy as well.

Doubt when he was drafted by Us he seemed bloody excited,

and if he does go back we would make sure the GC would have to pay alot for him;)

Anyone else notice that every time Steele got the ball it looked like he had a massive smile on his face??

I thought it was a little weird....

:p He's always got a smile on his face..... he loves life.... :thumbsu:

I have a feeling the mouth guard accentuated it as well.

Actually not that funny when you think about it Smiddaz......seriously one of the most inconsiderate posts I have seen on BF.

I mean if it is a joke.....just not funny

If it isn't a joke it is even worse. Imagine sitting around with some friends and you point to a guy and says my sister slept with him. Then your friend turns around and in all seriousness says...."Doesn't he have AIDS?

Stop being so prescious. He meant nothing by it and even someone with aids would have taken it like that.
